Husqvarna LT 130 MUD mower

I like to do stuff so it's not permanent. If I would have welded on stuff in the past this tractor would be a mess. I can't get at it with vice grips so I might have to modify it in a bit of a different way. Anyways, tomorrow I have to fix the welder before I do anything. What do you mean by side tension?

Yeah I definitely wouldn't weld it on. Seems okay first until to need to remove it. I think what Mighty means is maybe cock it a bit so it catches in the hole and holds it. I've done that before.

You could grind two flat spots on the shaft somewhere so you can stick the open end of a combination wrench on it.

Or you can cut a slot in the stud with a hacksaw or grinder and keep it from turning with a screwdriver.

Yeah but then when I take the wrench out there would be a lot of play.

Hey, just a thought, if you can grind a slot on the top of the threaded part that the nut goes over then you can put a box end wrench over it and then stick a flat blade screw driver in the notch and tighten it .

Yeah sorry I got distracted for a while. I wrecked a few screw drivers though I think the nut must be cross threaded or something because it is very hard to thread on. might get a new nut and thats why there is a stack of washers. I also had to chop of a little piece of axle overhang.

Interesting. Maybe the nut was the wrong threads? At least it worked I guess, haha.

Did the exhaust pipes today. Didn't want anything too low that could affect ground clearance and I didn't want anything so high it needed supports. I still need to find a way to attach the chrome tips because they are 2 inch and the pipe that I used is 1 1/4 inch. I'm still thinking of what do do as a spacer. I kinda wanted something quieter but I guess this will do until I decide I don't like it anymore.

Made a separate brake on the mower today for a couple of reasons. A) it might be hard to keep the same system when I want to try to make a double pulled clutch. B) I had a brake pedal from an old RER that was laying around. C) I like having a separate brake because it keeps me busy lol. Now I have the brake besides the gas and that's kinda cool. It was very easy to do. I simply shortened the link, made a little pivot part and cut a hole in the foot board. I might bend the link some time if it gets in the way so I have more ground clearance but for now it's ok. I'm getting so exited!!!!

That looks pretty good.  Nice and simple.  I can't tell from the picture but is there a return spring back there somewhere?

Well Carl, I was going to put a return spring but when I put it all together and tested it, It turns out that the stock brakes have a return spring kinda built in so I don't have to have one on the pedal. I was pretty happy about that because it keeps it very simple.

Well really there is two springs back there. The one on the rod I think was to help the parking brake function and the other I think is the return spring because I assembled it before without it and it wasnt working.

Well this is the current project for this mower. The double pulley clutch. I took off all the old clutch and idler pulleys and I realized just how long the belt really is. I figure since I need to get rid of some of the length somehow and the deck belt is too short. I might just have to put a bigger pulley on the front. I might put a 6 inch or so. It would make it faster by a bit but mostly just get rid of some of that annoying slack that gets in the way of the steering.
