The Daily Driver Thread I think...

Might aswell post it here too. I stopped in at a small car show today, there was a real nice 87 Dodge pickup there. Couple other cool Mopars... I didnt have anything to take pictures though.

I think after all I have planned for this truck, I will take it to a few shows. I dont think It would win anything, but it would be a change of pace anyways.

Got the starter fixed on the new Magnum today:



Tried some intake cleaner in the carb and it fired right off with a boost from a battery, so I'm thinking it should run no problem once I put it back together.



Man this gonna be a sweet engine...

That sounds excellent AK... Any ideas yet what to do with it?

Well to be honest I'm not sure yet, but I definitely gotta find a use for it!

thanks. it actually was not a depressing party unlike last year. only some of the people i invited showed up, but enough showed up at the same time to have a good time.

Yah, me too. I just got all the bugs worked out of my wife's 3 wheel bike and was thinking about making me one too, LOL.

@BigPip inspired me to get back to my my Daughter's tractor.  Her's is a simpler one with a varidrive.

Here is her current tractor I build up about 5 years ago:



We called it the Purple People Eater.  I never put in a thread about it.  It has a 6.5 HP pressure sprayer engine in it.  Works great, fed by an ATV fuel tank.  Tied the kill wire to the key switch.

Well, I never got around to fixing a pulley issue that developed a year ago and it has sat since.  That and the daughter just can't pull it fast enough to start it.

Today, I picked up pretty much the same tractor, but BETTER built and only needs an engine.  Good news, I have an engine that I am sure going to try to put in this.  I am going to try a few mods to speed it up, strenthen it up and get some cooler tires.  Also, should the FNR decide to fail down the line, a Doc Locked MST will go back in.  That may still be an option.

I'm going to let the daughter name it.  Once she does, I will start a thread for it.  It will be a rally build.  It will be yellow upon her request.



Got it for $25.  Just needs belts and a motor, but you guys that isn't the only thing that will happen to it.  I was shocked.  The Purple one came with plastic hood and panels that were busted all up.  This one has actual steel hood and panels and cast iron front axle that can be greased.  Not that cheap MTD front axle.  Other than belts and no engine.  The right front wheel bearing is worn out.  That's an easy one to fix too.

So... it looks like I have one more project!

Update, I measured it up. Looks like a nice 16hp Opposed will be dropping in. Lots of room in there for it.

I don't believe I ever showed this engine off. I got it with the Swisher, although it's not the original Swisher's engine.



1984 Briggs and Stratton 11 Horse Flathead 400cc Syncro Balanced.





It's got the one-piece Briggs carb. I pulled it apart and it's in immaculate shape.



It also has what appears to be the factory muffler, and it's in great shape. I'm thinking that this engine may not have a whole lot of hours on it because of that.

When I got it, the coil wire had been cut. I put a different one on it, and now it has great spark, and it also has great compression. I haven't tried firing it up, because the pulley that's on it is not only stuck on, it's so big I can't put it on any tractor to try to start it. So it's not doing anything right now, but I'm fairly positive it'll run. I don't have any plans for it really, I'm probably going to keep it as a spare for the Swisher, but I may get something with a Peerless 400 in it and swap this into it. I'd like to put it in something old.

That 11ph is in great shape.

The older gentleman that I got the Troy Bilt from had an old 76 SS/18 Suburban with an 18hp pressure lubed Onan that ran smooth and quiet like a car.  I was very jealous of the shape it was in.  Looked like it came right off the assembly line.  He also had a Wheel Horse just like @Crazy_Carl's mower one that he has had forever.  It also looked showroom floor and ran just as quiet and well.

Very cool stuff.

Oh it's been another one of those days. All my Sunday progress lost, our first beautiful, breezy day in forever totally wasted. I worked all day with the doors shut because of those bald faced hornets, and couldn't feel any breeze.

But seriously, this is the first day in the low 70s and a strong breeze since April, or you could say the first taste of Fall, and it's totally wasted for me.


Today, was not the day, to work on tractors.

Oh, and another thing. To kick the day off, this had to happen...





My darn music Ipod had to fly out of a PLASTIC WALMART BAG and right into the tinsee winsee little hole in front of the gas pedal. So the first 30 minutes were spent tearing the floor out of the golf cart to retrieve my Ipod. Welcome to my world.

Been there.... Today, I did spend all day outside.  The first half of the day was helping my father-in-law with his 50' tower.  He had a friend over helping him raise it.  They got it almost all the way and it broke free and fell over into a tree.  By the time I got there from my first half day at work, they got it upright.  I helped him get the lower guy lines installed so it would be sturdy for the night.  He said with those in place, he can get the top guy wires installed.  He needed more hardware for the install them.

Hmm... 19 different logons since 8 central this morning and no new posts.  Hmm...

It did seem quiet today on the forum. Although I can't say much since I mostly only ghost the forum without posting a lot.

Yep, I noticed it was pretty dead too. Kinda the backside of that mid week hump. Once Friday and the weekend hit I’m sure it’ll pick up

I've been dealing with band camp myself the past few days. No time to browse anywhere, much less work on stuff. Just wake up, coffee, go play bass, go home, coffee, sleep.

Well some of us are picking up another old garden tractor tonight, so I'm sure we'll see some posts on here about that!
