Man, 3rd day of tornado's and flooding.  River near by is now out of it's banks.  Had a funnel come directly over the house yesterday, luckily not today.

Got the impala fixed....again. This time was the starter. Now it’s leaking coolant out of the plastic 90 degree elbows going into the intake manifold below the alternator. One thing after another. Every single weak point I have ever read about the 3.8 is happening. And it’s all happening at once. Luckily once I get the rest of the sensors and weak points fixed it should be pretty reliable haha

Yikes... ugh. I just don't know what to say.

Suppose it’s my fault for buying a whole donor car for 150 bucks. Luckily all the cylinders are over 150 psi of compression so...there’s that.

There is that.... "knocks on wood" so far my issues with my Impala are those stupid blend door actuators under the dash. My car eats them about every 3-4 months. I have replaced ALL 3 now and need to replace one of those already... thump thump thump thump thump thump thump.............

Yeah I’ve heard those blender door actuators in your generation are bad but I didn’t know they were THAT bad. Doesn’t the aftermarket have a solution??

Tried.... the pricier ones last longer.

Wow. I thought for sure someone would’ve made something to fix that by now

Hey hey, didn't see this thread, thanks Mighty for pointing me to it.

Anyway, Monday afternoon i picked up this beauty for $450-

1927 South Bend Lathe, 9" swing with 3-½' bed




Catalogue/Model number 22ZC.


Got the full set of change gears plus a bunch of tooling. Guy gave me a Kennedy tool box with a ton of Mics and tools in it too. Super nice of him. The toolbox and stuff are really worth more than the lathe itself.





Really nice old guy. He actually builds mowers for his kids to ride around on. Couldn't thank him enough.

I wanted to jump on the bandwagon but I don't have anything worth posting really...so here's a picture of my cattle dog trying to learn to drive my Explorer.  



In other news this is my 2300th post, LOL. One of my favorite numbers....

Wow that is a good find. Whenever I get a shop a lathe is definitely on the list. Total must have for fab work

Awesome lathe score!!! She's a good looking ol' unit, should be wicked handy to have around.

Man, the ability to be able to turn your own bushings, spacers, hubs, adapters, etc. whenever you want would be just awesome, haha.

Yeah being able to turn hubs and spacers and stuff will be great! No more janky setups on the drill press, lol. At the moment I'm looking into a quick change and live center. It's MT2 in the tailstock and MT3 in the spindle so it should be easy to find a live center for a wood lathe or something.

I have a tiny lathe as well, but I almost never use it LOL

How easy is it to set up the 4 jaw chuck in that ol' girl? I've only ever used a 3-jaw before.

I’ve used a 3 and a 6.

Was driving the impala and was running great. Then I got a miss on cylinder 6, low oil pressure light, and pulled off to make sure I still had oil. I do, but looks like glitter. No knocks or anything so all may not be lost but I may be looking for a new engine soon already. Less than 200 miles on this one

You just gotta have an indicator. It's not that hard, although i do need more practice, i can get it in around .005" runout and after that it just gets worse lol. It'll probably be easier to dial in after I clean it up some.
