| Early bird gets the worm Mighty! Really though, looks pretty cool! So tell us, what'd you pay for that nice new engine CQ? Or was it a situation like me and my Yanmar, haha. | Speaking of yanmars...I paid 550 plus my non running yanmar clone 10 horse generator. More than I’d like to pay for a toy, but it’s brand new. Plus it has a factory 2 into one exhaust manifold which saves me time and looks nicer than anything I would make out of hacked together factory headers.
So anyway, that’s my backup plan. I’d like to stay true to my roots and run the junky freebee engine that Richie and red are basically sponsoring, but if it comes down to it I have a turn key ready to go engine on the shelf

| Got a nice little package in the mail yesterday. Briggs and Stratton actually make a oil filter delete plate for the vanguard engines. My soldered and pressed in brass nipples with rubber hose just wasn’t a very good design and did end up falling apart when I redid the front suspension. This little plate is very similar to what @Creepycrawler did on his AMF (you have any pics of that for reference?) but this one is cast and has a threaded fitting in it that you can plug with the supplied fitting or run the OEM oil pressure switch, or potentially run an oil pressure gauge (which I am considering doing). Of course I will have to change the oil more often and make sure it’s always clean, but these engines should have the oil changed often anyway with what we do and this little plate just frees up so much space and I’m not worried about it leaking. I call that a win for 19 dollars shipped to my door. https://www.amazon.com/Briggs-Stratton-807689-Filter-Cover/dp/B019XBMX6A | |

| I wanted to to that, but this only has one fitting. It just connects the typical outlet and inlet from the block to keep the oil circulating. I wanted to do a remote oil filter but it threads onto the existing oil filter “platform” or mounting flange which interferes with my suspension | |

| Engine is still off the frame, I need to paint the frame, bolt the engine on, and probably just adjust the tie rods to get the alignment back in and I’ll leave the steering setup alone till the build of is done. It works well enough for a demonstration of the machine, and it held up well enough at haspin that I’m not worried about it falling apart halfway through the video lmao
I’ll probably end up using the new engine just because of time constraints, but the sponsored engine will definitely see some action on this machine

| Hoping to do paint on Sunday. Going out of town Saturday to Sunday so hopefully I’m back in time to actually work on it. Biggest reason I’ve been dragging my feet on it is I have to degrease the frame which involves pushing it across my yard to the hose and that thing absolutely hates moving with the current tierod setup | |

| I watched the MK2 update video... The plastic part of the hood doesn't seem that bad. The guy at the junkyard has one he's gonna scrap, but the plastic piece is busted. I may (or may not) be able to get it and send it your way if you want... Besides, I've been looking for an excuse to save that hood. | |

| What engine does the one you’re talking about have? If it’s an oppy I’m interested. This one was actually too low because it originally had a single in it. The ones with the oppy are actually slightly taller. I just recently learned that.
The hood that was on it sat really close to the flywheel and hit the front of the shroud, poor engine barely had any airflow.
Got the frame cleaned off but I can’t find my spray paint anywhere and now the mk2 is sitting under about 3 inches of snow. So still no paint. Hopefully I can just kick grandma out of the garage for a bit so I can warm it enough to paint. First things first is fixing the ranger. This bmw is absolutely horrible in the snow (who woulda thought), smacked a curb pretty good on the way home today
