Wheel Bushing to Bearing Conversion Kit

Wonder if these would be a good idea to take the slop out of the wheels. Bushings are toast.

I plan on replacing mine with 4 on 4 hubs, they come with bearings. On one of my LT, I think I am going with the 1" trailer axle stub with the 4 on 4 hub.

Do a write up when you get to it so I can steal your ideas. I haven't seen many builds of these.

I tried that set, lasted one outing to the off-road park and fell apart.

These are much better.

These are the most heavy duty mower wheelbearings I know of. They aren’t sealed but you can just keep pumping grease through them to push junk out. Ran them on the 21s on mutt for several months and they were still good when I went to trailer spindles. They won’t come apart like ball bearings, they will keep working until the cage inside gets tore up and the needles fall out when you pull the wheel off, which takes a few years of really hard use to do.

Front end on this thing is wore slap out. Like completely gone. I'm going to try tightening everything up. Curious about how to do that with the axle pivot.

Axle pivot is just a bolt isn’t it? I just crank mine up til the axle is pretty firm to articulate.

I'll try that. Thinking about a direct steering setup to keep things simple.

Nice... those do look good on a craftsman.

Not sure if you have the missing hitch plate in your pic, if not you might make something to connect the sides for support. That way your transaxle isn't the support.

I was considering ordering some Ocelot tires myself from Amazon, though a lot smaller. They seemed to be reasonably priced.

Thinking about the steering. Tractor drives great other than that, but the slop is awful. I was considering a rack and pinion, and the price on them isn't bad, but I don't really have that kind of money right now. I need to use my harrow, so will be driving it a good bit. I found that most of the slop is because the shaft bushing is completely worn out. Fixing that won't get it to 100%, but I'm sure will make it tolerable. The part number search begins...

New bushings will make a world of difference. Also replacing any ball joints where you can.
