Think I finally got a carb that will work on this thing. Oddly enough a random one that someone gave me. I have no idea what it came off of, other than that it's a Tecumseh carb. If that doesn't work, I'm sending this Indian off to the happy hunting grounds.......

So I'm going to need this thing to start my fall garden. It "runs" with the carb I have on it now, but only at full choke and very low rpm. And not very good. I've tried a $15 ebay carb, and it wouldn't run much at all with that. I've heard from many mouths that Tecumseh's biggest downfall is their carbs, and I believe it. So, I MIGHT try adapting one from another engine. Obviously, it would have to be a similar cc size. A briggs or clone carb is what I'm looking at. Or this:
Of course, I'd have to adapt it to the intake, and I don't have a 3d printer, or the skills to use one. I could weld on up out of some pipe and metal plate. But, then there is the issue of getting the governor to work. Could just bypass it and make a stop for the throttle. IDK.

Didn’t know those tilly buggers were actually affordable…maybe the lawn ranger could use one.
Back in the day i put a GX190 carb on a little briggs 3hp flatty. It was a huge improvement over stock for that little engine. It did lock up eventually though, i think the jetting was a tad lean plus that engine hadn’t had the oil changed probably since it was new in the 60s.

I got half a mind to put one from a 10hp Briggs on it. If I can find one. I'll probably just give up on this piece of garbage. The only thing I've worked on that was anywhere close to as bad was a 74 Beetle.
