| well this stinks, i just realized i put the bottom crank seal in upside down, wasn't paying as close attention as i should have been, so now i have to remove the pan, pop the seal back out, hopefully not damaging it in the process, and reassemble everything putting the seal in the right way | |

That sounds frustrating! My 2055 I still haven’t figured out what the small spring on the butterfly control arm goes to . Runs, but it idles slower. Hope it all works well for you

Yikes. Take your time. Hope it's a higher quality seal and not one of those a fraction of a millimeter smaller china ones. Tell me how I know that one. Silly seal spun with the crank.

| i got it out with no damage, it fits tightly in the borei don't think it'll have any troubles, i had to tap it down with a hammer and small blunt punch to seat it fully so it should be just fine, next thing i need to do is temporarily mount it and get it cleaned, running, and ready to go into it's new home | |

| @Rustbucket Garage are you referring to the long tiny spring that fits over the thin rod going from the governor to the carburetor, if so that's a anti surging spring more or less, it holds light tension on the rod so the butterfly doesn't move on it's own causing the rpm to change while running, it should go from a small hole in the arm where the rod connects to the carburetor and on the other end it should have a small hole in the governor arm where it connects there, as for idle being low there should be a screw with a spring that you can adjust to raise the idle, this screw just acts as a stop for the butterfly, it'll be at the top of the carb or where ever the arm that controls the butterfly is located on your engine, if it's not running at full rpm when at full throttle you may need to adjust your throttle cable itself, or the governor, of course all this depends on the engine too | |

Thanks for the advice! I’m pretty new to the small engine world (this is my first GT) and I have the spare parts mentality sometimes and I put something back together and hey, spare parts! Hope it didn’t need that lol. I will get that spring hooked up soon, it sounds like that is exactly the culprit because it backfires when it is idled down too quickly. Thanks again. Means a lot to me! Can’t wait to see the oppy mounted!
