Well I finally got a tractor to enter into the build off it’s a toro 8-25 with what I think is a 10.5 hp Briggs single on it and a rectangle tubed frame. My plans for this build are to lower it, change the gearing to hopefully get 50mph out of it, and completely redo it from the frame up as a front engined tractor. For bodywork I’m gonna find a hood to chop and channel to fit onto the smaller frame and I’ll either use the front fenders off this or make my own rear fenders. For the rear end im gonna attempt to setup a limited slip with a strong spring and the current differential but if that doesn’t work I’m just gonna use the current setup with a different sprocket. For the steering I may use the murray front axle but I’m gonna keep it so it’s direct steer with a hand throttle. Anyways hopefully i finish it and the tear down should start tomorrow

50 mph ? you're either really brave, stupid or you have a death wish. Either way Good luck ! you must have a big back yard to get it to 50 though ! lol.

It’ll be on the roads by me if I try to reach that, it’s been done before so I’m hoping to do it even if it’s a bit sketchy but most likely it won’t happen

Well just a little update to say that nothing really has been done to this since I only have limited work room and I had to move it out of the way to bring the transaxle for the craftsman in and work on that but I’m hoping this week I’ll have that fixed and out of my way and this can come back in for the teardown

it has a peerless 700 which is belt driven but then it goes to a stand alone go kart rear axle
Yeah so what he's saying LG is that it has a gearbox (probably under the seat) that is belt driven by the engine, and the gearbox has a sprocket on the output shaft which has a chain that goes to a live axle.

Would it be okay if I changed the build plans some, I was thinking of getting an mtd for the frame and body and using that instead of the one now, would this change be allowed ?

Alright so I stripped it down to the frame and got the tranny and engine off and I’ve decided that I’m gonna look for a mtd to build instead of redoing this. The tranny and engine are gonna go towards whichever tractor I get next to build into a racer. And the frame and rest of the parts will go toward a go kart. Also i plan on entering into the buildoff again once I get a better platform to build off of. Anyways I was wondering if you could close this build thread for me
