[DNF][2020 Build-Off Entry] loggers gogert build off entry !!!!

alright guys, i know I'm a bit early, i kind of forgot about it...but here it is!!!
and do i have to have the pictures of the parts along with it???
because there all under a tarp with some bricks on it because of rain/they won't get rusted......

I accepted for now due to the info in other threads.  Please restate your plans here in this one for build-off rule purposes.

uummmm, just to be clear, this is not the mower that i want to do the 6x4 thing to, the mower that i want to do the 6x4 thing is in the backround ( as you can see )
ill copy and paste my ideas for thhis mower on this thread.

and i dont plan on doing the 6x4 thing to the OTHER mower until next year...

the mower that im enertring the buildoff in is the mower i was tallking about in my very 1st thread on this site

okay..........for now on FORGET EVERYTHING i said about that 6x4 mower, because that idea is for a DIFFERENT mower....

i jus wanted to state that because its obviously caused confusion

Even though you mentioned it in your first thread, rules state that the entry thread have it in your build-off topic as well.  I do not think there was any confusion with the 6x4 build.

As for rpm gauge, some have had luck with marine gauges.

alright guys.....this is my idea:

a zombie apocalypse theme off road mower.
but...this won't be a simple paint job and then you call it a zombie apocalypse mower.......no........
this is different. it won't perform as good offload as y'alls does, but i think it would make up for that in the amount of detail that goes into this build.
since its apocalypse themed it will have things like:

a gun rack
ammobox, 1 ammobox with ammo in it, and one box with personal items. ( they will be 50. cal boxes )
a apocalypse type design on the hood
a couple spikes
jerry can
food, water
a compartment for a map

before i continue i want to say that this mower and the details that go into the mower will actually tell a story of a 26 yr old man that is in the zombie apocalypse, and his journey through it and how he survives... how do you tell what the story is? good question.

there will be a little compartment in the dash of the "apocalypse mower" with a journal in it.
and that journal will the the story of this mans life through the apocalypse, there will be about 10 pages.
each page will be VERY detailed on what he did/happend in the apocalypse.
and i have actually started to write the 1st page.
once i have completely finished the mower and story i will post pics of the story and pics of every page
i will give you a summary on how the story goes in a begging middle end format below:

beginning: the man is at work and he hears that zombies apocalypse has broke out, he leaves work and goes outside and sees people getting eaten and stores robbed etc.
he then gets in his car, in hopes of going home and finding his family still alive. he gets home and comes to find that they are dead. he then later on finds a group of people and they survive for awhile.



( okay sorry guys i have to cut this short but i have to go somewhere and i can't finish writing this, but i will  finish this tommaorow, okay bye )

Kinda sounds like we're playing fast and loose with the 50% rule on this build...

okay, now to finish the summary of what the journal will say:




beginning: the man is at work and he hears that zombies apocalypse has broke out, he leaves work and goes outside and sees people getting eaten and stores robbed etc.
he then gets in his car, in hopes of going home and finding his family still alive. he gets home and comes to find that they are dead. he then later on finds a group of people and they survive for awhile.


middle: the group that he has found, couple months later, they find a overrun refugee camp, they go to the camp, and set it up as base.
then a couple months later, a large hoard of zombies attacks the camp, then all of the people are dead besides the main character. so now since everyone he knows is dead, since he has nothing to lose he sets out on a journey on his apocalypse mower to a CDC lab.


ending: he finally gets to the CDC lab, but just to find out that it has been overun/destroyed by zombies.
still with hopes of finding a cure, he enters the lab.
he then get into a room to find a scientist getting attacked by a zombie.
the main character saves the scientist, but the scientist has been bitten, the scientist then gives the main character the antidote and tells him to bring it to a small military outpost in california, and that he must protect that antidote with his life as for the planet is on his hands.

okay, now you're probably wondering, "logan you should have an "antidote" on the mower it will be cool"

well guess what?
i will put an "antidote" on the mower.

it will actually be a syringe filled with green colored water and then ill put it in like a brief case, then start it to the back of the mower......


what do you guys think about this idea?
i thought it was very creative, and i actually lost most of my sleep last nite because i would not stop thinking about this....

Sounds like you will have fun doing it!  Thats one of the main things about the build-off.  Good luck on your build.  We'll be following along.

alright guys, today I'm going to do some body work, but since about half of the paint on my mower is already falling off, i would like to just take ALL the paint off.

so whats the best way take paint off a chassis??

do you have an angle grinder, if so get a couple 120 grit flappy disks and go to town on it, should make short work of it, but don't sit in any area long it will build heat and possibly cause warping, if you have no grinder, them a good stiff wire wheel on a drill will do the job but take a lot longer, alternatively you can get some paint stripper, ask the guys at the auto parts or hardware store for recommendations, they should be able to recommend something to do the job, with that you just brush it on and wait, once it's done it's thing hose it off then wipe it down, i'm pretty sure paint stripper is regulated like spray paint so you may need to ask your dad or another adult to buy it for you, it might be different there, but you have to be 18 here to buy stuff like that. no matter what you use be ready to primer almost immediately or it will flash rust

one time when i was about 7yrs old, my dad was at his buddys house helping him with his go kart.
and all 3 of us were in the garage, then at some point my dads friend started grinding off something with a cutoff disk, my dad was standing next to him, and i was in the corner of the garage because i was scared of the sparks, then all of a sudden i see these small black pieces fly around the garage, turns out the disk completely flew apart into pieces, they completely missed me and my dad, but 2 pices got embeded into my dads friends skull, and 1 in his chest.
and i remember seeing blood, him drop to his knees....and him screaming in pain...

something i definetley should not have seen as a 7yr old.
still haunts me when i think about it.

Wear a face shield and gloves. They're not expensive.

i DO it every once and awhile, but i look like an idiot because of how far im leaning back when i do it

That's why I mostly take my time cutting and check my disks regularly.  Even if they only have a few seconds cutting and they appear frayed or funky.  I toss them.

what about a sand blaster??

A sand blaster would probably do superb! But you BETTER make sure you want everything blasted. If there's something on it you don't want blasted... Yikes.

And if you do go with the wire wheel, be careful. They will throw a wire off every once in a while. It shouldn't hurt you very bad if it does fly of and hit you as long as you have face protection. Might just poke you for a minute. I think a jacket'll take care of poking problems.

Yeah i like having a carhartt and gloves on when i use the wirewheel. Plus be mindful of the line of fire.
