| My belts been slippin severly even when dry with two clutch spings. Since I have the extra motor pulley I decided to try somethin. I removed my motor pulley and placed light spot welds spaced about 1/2" all the way around the belts seat. I put it back on and the slipping was reduced drastically. I will be doing the same to the transaxle. I figure this will chew up belts but weather its worth it or not will depend on how soon I gotta replace the brand new belt thats on it. I'll let ya know how it works out. | |

| It does sound like that will eat belts. Is your clutch on the slack side of the belt?
We have GOT to fix your photo issue. When you try to post photos, what happens? What steps are you taking?

| Slack side of belt? It started slipping before I did anything to the belts and pulleys. Then even after ditching the vari-drive, swapping pullys from 5/8 to 1/2" and installing brand new belt there was no change. Then I put a second clutch spring on and it helped but barely. Then you mentioned glazed pulleys so yesturday I looked and my motor pulley was brighter chrome then most semi truck bumpers. So I did the spot welds and slippage was cut in half. As far as postin pics go... I dont know. One I posted shows up for me but someone commented that it didnt work. Ive done exactly as the instruction shows but it dont work. So I tried variations of the instructions but obviously that didnt work eather. Lol eventually I just got frustrated but im gonna try again today if I get a chance. Todays our thanksgiving dinner/family gathering so busy busy busy. Lol | |

| Maybe we should make a thread of tricks and tips that didn't work. | |

| Your clutch needs to be on the slack side, most commonly on the right side of the frame if youre looking at it from the back. Head Forum Administrator ** Chat Moderator ** Facebook Page AdminATLTF Facebook Page ** Chatbox ** How To Upload Pictures

| Ok. The clutch is stock aside from the pulley that replaces the vari drive pulley. It pivots in the center of the tractor and the pulley is on the left (as viewed from the rear) moving forward to back. Forward being engaged. Sorry if this isn't the info your lookin for im still confused about slack side. Ive got maybe a year's experience with small engine machinery. | |

| The slack side is the side of the belt that isnt being pulled. By having your clutch pulley on the left side what is basically happening is the belt is fighting the clutch, making it loose. You need to swap sides. Head Forum Administrator ** Chat Moderator ** Facebook Page AdminATLTF Facebook Page ** Chatbox ** How To Upload Pictures

| Completely agree.
And Red's idea is interesting too. Maybe start with a simple thread dedicated to failed experiments. Not so much for the laugh factor, but to maybe save future headaches.
