I was looking at your pics again and i spotted a yellow vintage briggs. What model and year? Go to the engine tech section and check out a vid of my 1949 5s if you have the time.
I've got a very good running 1966 2 1/4 HP Briggs horizontal shaft! out of a power trowel made by Master Vibrator LOL , got the motor for free, put n a pedal bike. I'll post up pics when I find 'em !

Is it me ( or the angle of the picture) or does that shaft to the trans look like its at a slight angle?
Looks cool tho - id put a tack weld on that adapter collar as well.
Ford Boi: My oldest motor is a 70 verticle shaft 5HP ( still runs- its on my toro tractor) - i have a 69 8HP - but it was in pieces when i got it- never seen it run.

didnt get much done this weekend it sucked up my camp it rained all saturday, and i broke my black monster mower. i went down into a deep pit and got stuck my Jamie was pulling me out and i heard a big clunk noise and the chain popped but i soon discovered the mass torque of the opposed twin twisted and broke the angle i had mounting the tranny the pics arent so great it was raining and getting dark the first picture shows it all on and angle and not square to the frame second one is the front angle piece snapped
me and jamie mudding didnt get pics really but its something me on big black one jamie on his my 25 halfway burried, had to use winch i was by my self then there was my new monster mower next to my other one with tires on it at this moment because of flats and starting to rain it has not one of the same tire on it lol hope you like

sorry guys havent got much done this past weekend i spent most of my time playing in the mud with my other monstermower and broke it again, but i did change out the flywheel and starter and it runs great. the last flywheel had a stupid plastic gear on it and half the teath were stripped. but anyways dangeroustoys56 was right about the shaft being on a slant and i just didnt want to say anything because i was in a hurry and screwed up. i made one of the tranny drop downs an inch shorter than the other one so, i have another frame laying around with the dash i need already on it so this winter i am going to start rebuilding this mower and build it right this time, but i am not sure what tranny to use. i have a sumwhat good 6 spd thats in it now but the axle shafts are loose and move around. i also have a 4spd wich i think is weeker but it is pretty much 100% sealed so no mud or water will get in it. or my final choice is to put out about 75$ rims and tires to fit on it and buy a peerless 820 with the one inch shafts wich are pretty Much bullet proof for mowers i hear so let me know what you think i should do

The 820 has a 1" shaft? Awesome, i'll look for one of them then.

i think a 10 in lift, my friend went into another pit with his stock craftsman, that was the same dept as that and it was up to his head lights, luckily he had a twin so that carb was up higher

Its happened to me before. Its quite a chore. My buddy and I's tractors we sunk into a deep mud put of thick sticky my, probably around 1 foot and a half deep. For the first ten minutes i was trying to stay on land all dry trying to lift the beast up, but by the end of the day i was in the mud trying to wrestle her out, knee deep in thick muck. Greeat day!

I have 20x11-9 atv tires that I wanted to put on one of my mowers, but most mower wheels are 8"; the tires will just have to be spares for my atv then.
I do have 22x11-8 nice new atv tires on my green simplicity, but the tranny in that is making a lot of grinding sounds so I wanted other tires to put on my street murray so I could do some mudding with that. The 22" I believe are to tall for the murray.
Oh......well!

Couple years ago in the swamp behind the folks place i burried my agway- the thick gooey muck mud ( its a heavy black soil that area farmers grow potatoes in) was too much for the stock tires on it after churning it up the day before .
Sunk right down to the footrests - i had to hop off and push it out- if i didnt have the stock motor pulley on and most the deck hardware on it- it mightve been easier to get it out.
