| I would not run a 2'' pulley on the back or you will have really bad slippage, I would run a 4.5'' on the front and a 5'' on the back. | |

| If you put a bigger pulley on the front and a smaller on the back you will get more speed, but for off roading I would recommend a 1:1 ratio (i.e 4''-4'', 5''-5''). | |

| Keep it under 20, unless you have upgraded steering and brakes.
1 to 1 ratio is 15-20 on most mowers. Say a 5 in front, and 5 in rear.
A 20 in front and 4 in rear would be stupid fast, like 120mph. That would be a 5 to ratio.

| yes i did plan on brake and steering upgrades, its mainly gunna be for straight stretches so ill most likely give it some castor to keep it straight. my goal is arout 40-45 mph, ill be weldin a custom built front axle to the front of the frame and lowerin it quit a bit. kinda goin for pro street/ rat rod look | |

| Bah bah, we're all rednecks here! Swap it, and go! I have no brakes, but I still ride the thing.
But I agree, don't go too small on the back. I have a 1", and my machine just sits there, shaking and squeaking. Can't get enough tension to hold it.

Sure. But there's live rednecks, and dead ones. Better to upgrade the steering and brakes and be a live nobody than a dead Darwin Award winner. Nothing kills a good time faster than a trip to the ER.

| Doc is quite right - but just sometimes a trip to the ER is the result of a little too much fun lol... Still, upgrade the steering and brakes - #1 most important suggestion any here could make.
This coming from a guy (me) who often runs brakeless... (shh don't tell anyone) |
