Steering shaft is fixed. Welded it up, and took it to my machinist. 10 minutes on the lathe and the bushing fit tight. Cut a groove for the snap ring and it's good to go. And he didnt even charge me.👍 It is installed, but I need to address the sector gear bushing.
Tractor is its current state:

If you want a brush cutter or trimmer larger then 31cc, 2 stroke is the only viable option in the USA. I have never really gotten into 2 strokes, though that is not to say I have not repaired a few chainsaws. Handle bars and a 72" shaft is the way to go to avoid back killing.

It's a beast. It can cut down small trees.

I bought the carbide tipped circular saw blade from my Stihl dealer, it does okay cutting small 1-2" stuff on my tired 30cc 4 cyl Cub Cadet, but, I really need something big and better such as the Husky, with handle bars. I have been looking at the Toro.

I can't decide, should you cut from the right side or left side using the blade? No kick back yet either way.

Right to left for me. You want the blade turning against the movement of the cutter if that makes sense. Go the other way and it'll want to grab whatever you're trying to cut and throw itself past it. If that makes sense. With the chainsaw style blade mine will cut through 4" hardwoods with some patience. As a string trimmer it's a monster.

Well I hate that you waded through all that junk to find that, cause I'm axing the LGC. Probably going to sell it. Anyone want an LT4000 with a 500cc Intek? lol! I'll take $80 for it.

Yeah, well EVERYTHING down here is infested with either those, guineas, or yellow jackets. Not to mention the snakes. And you should see MY junk shed/garage. It's worse cause I work in it too. Tiny tractor build. - Page 5 1098998679 But seriously I do appreciate it. 👍

I just bought a couple of white plastic marine seats from West Marine because the black ones have been roasting me in the hot Atlanta sun. One time I had to push the LT into the shade and let it cool off because I literally could not sit on the seat even with thick pants. Same goes with the steering wheel, I might get a white steering wheel cover.

I have tried flex seal on a few different things, not really impressed with the performance, especially on shingles.

Next job on this thing is a light bar. Not sure whether I want to mount it high or low. High seems good for range, but low seems better for seeing obstacles I'm about to run into. The far range isn't that important. Looks I don't care about. Already got the light bar.

I think side facing lights more important then an expensive or super bright front light bar. I try to install side facing LEDs on my trucks, each side on a separate switch. Not only does it help when trying to see street signs and numbers at night, but, when off road in the country on a moonless night, you literally can not see anything next to you when trying to turn. Even with super bright front headlamps.

I had finished cutting trees at a horse farm and driving through the pasture at night, the only way to avoid hitting 2000# horses was the driver and passenger shining flashlights out each window.

I plan on installing small side facing LEDs on which ever lawn tractor I plan on using for hauling firewood to my house this winter from the firewood racks.

Many times I work from 4pm-8pm, so, having good lamps on whatever I am driving, so, I can safely make turns is important. Bright backup lamps are a must too.

Definitely want a lower one. A couple guys run some kind of rock lights on their mower, really nice to have those. Can see under all around depending on placement. Mutt has some led bars on the rack i can swivel around to see around me. Meanwhile the lawn ranger and sears dont even have a battery and I’m stuck with a headlamp lol!

I must announce with regret that this project has been retired, and I don't think I will be trying to save it.

But, it's 100% my fault. When I rebuilt the engine, I failed to check the crankshaft endplay. That was a VERY serious mistake. I have less than 50 hours on and it is trashed. Well, maybe not trashed, but it will be needing new rods. How I found this out:

I pulled the motor to install a thrust washer, not realizing the damage had already been done. I was also pulling it because the alternator stopped working, and you must remove the engine to replace it. When I drained the oil it was so full of metal it looked like glitter glue. On top of all that I was unable to get the flywheel off.

It just doesn't make sense to keep going with this thing. The steering is shot, and the whole mower might as well be held together with bailing wire. I'm now going to do what I knew I should have done in the first place, save up for an actual tractor. A customer of mine at work has an 8N in excellent shape that he is cutting me an outstanding deal on. If and when I get it, I'll put up some pics and maybe start a thread.

I'll probably sell the thing as is. Good body and 633a. Engine can be saved and it's got fresh pistons and valves so that's a plus. I just don't have time for it plus I lost my garage to Helene.

Not sure if this is allowed (Mighty please have mercy), but the GT18 and LGC are up for sale. $100 takes both. Just get them out of my yard. The GT18 will come with the oppy, it's muffler, new carb, and all the tin, but will not include the fan or rear pulley. It has a good 633 with new seals (minus hi/lo), new shifter boot, and new brakes. It is currently wearing some tired turfs on the front, and some cracked atv tires on the back. Also includes a new 4k rpm diesel tach. The LGC will come with whatever tires I can slap on the front so it can be pushed around, and it's original engine, which was running according to the previous owner, but had lots of parts crackheaded. It's missing the cover, coil, and air filter housing. It is a 14.5 hp Briggs I/C. Has a good Peerless 6 speed, and brand new belt. I'm taking a huge loss on all of this, but I'm just trying to clean up my yard some before I get evicted. Tiny tractor build. - Page 5 1098998679
