I did a search and found nothing recent. I’m looking for a tach and ammeter for my builds. They are common and cheap, but I would like to hear from someone who has actually used the inexpensive ones.
Thanks! That is the one I was looking at on Amazon. I forgot about the video, it didn’t show up in the search.
Any recommendations on an ammeter? I know it isn’t necessary, but it looks like fun. The rig I’m working on had one originally but it is long gone/broken.

The thing about ammeters is the usable sweep, most readily available ones are 30/0/30 so the needle will hardly move because our tractors only charge up to around 6 amp that I know of so a max of 15/0/15 is good, 10/0/10 is probably best. I've also not seen a digital one that shows below zero...
For your Wizard Square body, the rectangular hole in the top left of the dash is where the 15amp ammeter went, part# 725-0925/925-0925. There's a round Stewart Warner 20amp available also Briggs and Stratton part# 295158 / Stewart Warner# 357-W
Autozone Equus tachometer. Came with multiple wiring plugs. Inductive pick up can clamp right around your plug wire and you can set it to different cylinder settings. Here’s a picture of mine on my vanguard. Yes it was checked against another tach and it does read accurately. Valve float at just 4700 ish lol
Remove your governor, pin it and you'll find out when the rpms peak, valve float essentially acts as a rev limiter. Yes if you want to increase your rpms beyond that you need stiffer valve springs but there are other mods you need to do so the motor holds together, stiffer springs should be one of the last things done once the rest of the motor is ready to handle the higher rpms.
My vanguard floats at 4700 ish. High rev kit will take it to pretty much 5k even. Aftermarket advanced timing key would be beneficial and any higher I’d want billet internals. But mine rarely sees valve float and if it does it is very briefly lol. Run your throttle cable right to the carb and pin it. You can hear when it stops revving. A lot of times with the little tachs it’s hard to read them when you’re actually using your machine and driving it. And a lot of the smaller ones have a good bit of lag to them so hard to be accurate. Mine seems to do well, very responsive and I’d say pretty accurate
