im considering using my buddies mower for a test platform he has a newer basic yard machines its worthless what if i hacked up a spare cvt thing and used it for the mounting and welded two pullies together and used a bigger on the bottom smaller on top then it would be one speed and stupid fast with the clutch system but usuing the ctv area as a jackshaft? if it makes any sense

well I was wondering if anybody would like to see a mid 60s simplicity Broadmoor 707 build. anyhow I got to looking through the threads here on atltf and found Mr modifieds simplicity builds. It inspired me to continue working on my Lil 707 on the side I haven't really documented anything. the only mods I have done to it so far are 23in ags and fender raisers. the only issue with it right now is that it is the model with the pivot frame so it has a very aggravating twist belt setup. I really need a trail/utility mower that i am not afraid to bump into trees or run over small trees agresivly lol. the first varaition of this machine was strickly to play in the mud . now with the middle frame pivot i was thinking it would be cool to throw a craftsman cast axle in the front and have dual pivot points it would be excellent for crawling! let me know if anybody wants to see the old girl get built

the manufacturer of the tractor would be simplicity later after this machine was built (a year or so) allis Chalmers bought out simplicity to make garden tractors in 1965 so this would have been a smaller cousin to the b10 Allis Chalmers or an equal equivalent to a b10 would be a simplicity landlord 101. I am guessing this tractor is a 64-66. thanks for the input on starting a thread about the old girl I think I will start tomorrow!

Worked at #2 a little more today. Gas pedal done. Shift linkage done. Got a clutch designed. Need to figure out a spacer for the front pulley then that’s all ready to weld in. Need to look up some bushings at work to build a front axle for it. Going to base it off my original rally tractor. 0 deg camber, 8 deg caster, 0 deg kingpin angle. Then set toe and what not. Probably going to take the axle out of my first one and put the better one in there and put the one I built when I was 13 in the one I’m doing now lol

I finally got a weekend off to relax, ended up going to my grandparents. We ended up getting some new hives of honey bees since our old hive left during the winter so we've been having to get them all situated. They're all really gentle which is nice cause the old hive was too. If y'all ain't never had some good homegrown honey then you dont know what your missing!
Anywards got my papaws hov-around out and going again. Didnt need much just had to pour a little gas in the carb and she lit off. Took a minute before the trans warmed up enough to start moving fluid around but other than that the thing is pretty fun to ride around the woods! I know a lot of people give hydros crap but honestly this thing goes everywhere you want it to. I've never had it in deep mud before but as far as climbing hills, rocks, and going through creeks this thing didn't even spin a tire. Ain't got a lot of power but it dont need a lot. Engine smokes a bit especially when your going down hill, but runs like a champ! I think it smokes cause the needle and seat aren't getting along well and if you leave the gas on it fills the crankcase with gas. I've had to change the oil in it quite a few times over the years cause I forgot to shut the gas off. I dont think anyone has run it with gas in the oil but whoever my papaw got the engine from might have. Doesn't help that it's never had an air cleaner on it either. Sorry for rambling but it really brings me back to my childhood!
Probably needs the rear end juice changed and a new filter but I'm not sure what goes in it. Also needs an air filter. Ain't too worried about it though since it only gets drove maybe twice a year.

@Brianator "Like a TAV2 CVT? That would actually be pretty cool and probably doable!" i dont know how to quote so i guess this works. but yes i actually have a 30 series rear pully i could put another pully on the shaft and mount it on the chassis which would make a yard machines two speed and that would be awesome! but would it work with the belts?

Hmm.. seems the off-topic has gotten some general tractor talk. I'll create a new topic in the general tractor talk section! I know I am guilty the same.

Cant remember if i posted it on here or not, but earlier this year I bought a Jet 13x40 lathe from my friend when i was delivering a milling machine to him. Was basically a basket case. Shortly after i bought it a CNC mill got shoved in front of it, so it took me a while to get to working on it. It's fully assembled and fixed up now, besides wiring up the 2 speed 3ph motor. To be honest, i may just end up putting a single speed 3ph motor on it.
Yeah, the buy/sell/trade section never really worked as most of us are pretty far away from each other.
It's strange to think of how long I've been on here, how things have changed. I remember my early days when mr.moo and MatthewD were regulars here, and Redline's MTD was still brand spankin new.
Remember the trouble me and a few others would cause in the chatbox? Those were the days. Allis being made a mod just to boot me out of the chat was hilarious.
Yep... Unfortunately Redline was moving on about the time we came into the picture.. "STUPID DEER" Good thing Doug made me an admin, he's pretty absent at times and Doc I think moved on. His FB group is just too busy these days.

I couldn't believe how that deer hit that MTD lol. The only time i remember doug being active on here was when he got in that motorcycle wreck(RIP XT250) and was recovering for a while. Doc has always had a lot on his plate.

Nice 318!
I’ll second you on the GT hydros. Mine has moved gravel and wet fill dirt by the half ton and she had no problem at all getting up the hill. And the hills roll pretty good in my neck of the woods.
And I get local honey regularly as well, a local keeper has a few hives on my grandparents and compensates with a couple cases a year. It’s goooooooood.
Edit: got bored, ran the math and a 2500 Peerless hooked to an Eaton 11 puts out 1100 ft lbs of torque in low gear.

In the top right corner (2 to the right of the @) in the message there's a quotation mark. No i highly doubt it woud work with existing belts (not wide enough) but you got me thinking it would probably be possible to make a custom mount to bolt a complete TAV2 30 series with backplate underneath (pending the crankshaft PTO is long enough. I'm sure you could get a belt pulley to put on the secondary pulley where you would normally put a sprocket and connect that to the rear end. Because it acts like an automatic you wouldn't actually need a clutch just a tensioner. Kind of wish my 30 series wasn't bolted on The Ditchbanger right now so I could hold it under my tractor and see if it's pheasible. It would be wild though, think of that with a VariDrive setup.... you could go from a bull low crawling gear up to who knows how fast!?
I have too many projects but ive got spare parts galore so if i get an openeing on a project and i think im getting a free john deere soon i might use that jd for that idea i plan ti gut the hydro parts from it and the kawaskai and build the chassis as a racer. Ive got a mower that needs the engine and my other deere is a slow turd so gotta figure it out

The problem isn’t ever too many projects, it’s too little time.
