| i made a mistake and bought a 36in long keyed shaft to do a doc locker in my peerless 801, the mistake i made was i misread the alloy specs, i thought it said it was 1060, but found out after the purchase it was 1018, will a 1018 mild steel be strong enough to do the locker or am i out $50 by buying the wrong shaft

| 1060 and 1018 steel is pretty much the same steel. The first 2 numbers is the base metal and 10 would be iron. The last 2 numbers is the carbon content of the steel being made. The difference in carbon make it harder but the numbers in relation to hardness is not that much. In a simpler way of thinking of it would be about a 30 lbs. difference overall weight difference to where on axle would stay bent under pressure and the other axle flexes back. Not that much of a difference. I think you are good.
