| hey guys im looking for a good lawn tractor for mudding, something that has a good transaxle, and a v twin engine, it can be old or like 80s 0r 90s.Something with a solid body that can take a beating, i have a murray and stock murrays have poor pulley systems along with poor transaxles and clutches. If anyone could recommend some brands with good transaxles and strong clutch and pulley systems it would be greatly appreciated! No hydros so dont even try. thanks! | |

| I've always found that craftsmans have a good strong frame, some can even be had with opposed twins or fitted with one if you search. Most usually come with 4-6 speed transaxles aswell | |

| They have probably one of the best frames IMO for a lawn tractor. The only problem witht the frame I've seen happen is right in the c channel where the front axle is mounted can develop stress cracks if its really beat on. A little reinforcing in that area and the problem should be non-existent | |

| Mid 80s to late 90s are my favorite style craftsmans. Most still have an all metal hood (after late 90s craftsmans usually had plastic nose pieces that can break easily). Hp can range from 10-18hp on these models. They'll either have the shifter in between your legs or on the side of the fenders. | |

| I'm Redneckcomputergeek on youtube I run a fully modded craftsman lt1000 with Fearless and Mudking with stock clutch setup but upgraded spring.
C channel Murray are no contest the strongest frame but IMO the worst stock clutch setup.

| Ive always liked MTDs but the Craftsman are good other then the weak front spindle mount. I have both. I also have a mini Gillson that I derby and that thing is like a tank. Murrays have good frames but the clutchs are junk imo. | |

| If you modify the clutch they are fine. That's what I did to my Murray. Custom clutch setup and I never have slip now. And the frames are tough as heck on some. I've never had issues. | |

The frame is made of two "C"channels facing each other like this [xxxx]. And from a design, engineering point of view, its not very strong, but it is easy to modify and easy to make the strongest frame.

| My group is using 80's craftsmans almost exclusively. The frame is strong as heck, and they are really easy to mod. | |
