Very nice! You're gonna need a pretty serious chain tensioninng method.

If your referring to the Death trap, yes it is going to have a large tensioner with lots of movement and a strong spring. I am considering putting in a jackshaft to take off some strain from the output gear on the foote.

That might be a good idea to take the strain off the input.

45 for all. Engines turn over. The 2 dont have carbs , but have good compression. The one on is complete, but has no compression.

That's a good deal. Judging by the cylinder head the one standing up is a smaller model like a K161 or a K181, can't really tell what the one laying down is. Also regarding the compression issue, if it's a K241 or bigger it may have ACR which mean there wont be any compression until about 600 RPM's. If you spin it backwards and it has compression it means it's just the ACR doing it's job. If it has no compression at all in either directions I'd look in the ports to see if a valve is maybe stuck open.

Nice! Then you can just swap externals and have a good running engine with another backup block with internals and another with compression in case you ever wear out the other one. Good deal for 45 bucks . Does it have a vari drive or is it direct ? Its geared right?

Also W there are a few good videos and pictures on the web of the variable speed on those tractors and apparently they sometimes need adjustment. Just in case you find yours not working properly, it may just need adjustment.

That thing is sick. Even if it has no carb it probably needed a new one anyways because of how old it is.

Sounds like a cool idea for a drive system , with all of those speed adjustment it says top speed is 6.5 mph stock. Little pulley swap and it could hit 17 mph easy.

Yeah so it is geared and does have vari drive.  The trans seems fine, vari drive seems to work.  The whole thing is 3/8 inch steel and cast iron, must weigh 950 LBS, lol.  The engine that's in it has no compression and spins over way to easy and has a dragging noise inside.  When I got her home I put a screw driver in the spark plug hole and turned it over...and the valves and piston did not move.  I was wondering about that when I was looking at it, but I got it anyway.  The other 2 have awesome compression, so I can definitely make 1 good engine out of the mix.  The clutch works well.  I don't see any issues with it except for the engine.  Pics later, it's still in the truck lol.  Took us a 2000 pound winch to get it on it.  Buck sounds like a neat name haha.

Plans are a diff lock, ags on the front and rear, pulley swap, probably want 20 mph.  Should be a fun build, will start a build thread when I have time and will tear into her to get her running!  Gonna kinda restore it, want it to look pristine like it did 50 years ago.

Photo dump! The craftsman did not have a deck and they guy wouldn't take any less for it . I got a bit "irritated " and he threw in two rers.they both have 5 speed 700's and one has a good engine according to him. I would have bought the craftsman and the two rers for 160 but hey , I'll take what I can get. What do y'all think ??good deal or not?
One Mtd. Is for parts and one I might keep and the other will be sold.

Spicer, it's a 6 speed and I plan on making it a mowing mower with an off road touch if I get a deck for it.

Yeah. Brought up the Murray to the shop and tried to get the pulley off but it is going to need some more serious attention in the morning. The 700 on it does work, through all gears as far as I can tell . Never had 3 gearboxes at once, not sure if I can handle the burden.
