$25 1968 John Deere 110 Pre-Build

Okay, so brought her home today!  Here's all the photos I have at the moment, can't go take any more right now.






Lady we bought it from said $25, even though the asking price was $50.  The trans was free, the vari drive seemed to work, and the engine was all there.  But it had no compression forward or backward.  Upon further investigation the connecting rod is snapped.  Noticed she had 2 more K-series Kohlers there, so I asked how much for them, and bought them for $20.  They both have good compression.  They are both missing the starters and the carbs, and one is missing the exhaust.  The intake and the exhaust on both of them has a paper towel shoved down it so I know that some mouse doesn't live in it haha. The wiring harness looks like it'll work, but I haven't tried it yet. Will jump it later and see if it'll turn the engine over.  IDK how many hp the engine has, can't find a serial number on it.  The body is barely rusted, and the rust didn't penetrate.  Wiped it off in a spot and the paint actually looks good, just dirty.  Gonna lock the rear end, put ags on the front and back, upgrade the clutch springs and maybe adjust the gov, IDK.  Going to plow with it, and might even put a skid steer bucket on it and clear some land if it will do it.  Should be a neat build, tips are very welcome.  I've never owned any tractor except for your normal, geared tractor with a mst style trans and a vertical shaft engine.

Cool! Looking at the cylinder head and governor linkage on the engine in the tractor, it's a smaller model like a K181. How did you determine the connecting rod was for sure broken?

Good buy! I might have got a bad deal today buy I still got parts and lots of good engines to sell if not whole mowers.now I have to start a thread about the new or 4000

I took the spark plug out and they didn't appear to be moving.  We'll see later when I pull the head.  I'll get some pics of the others tomorrow.

Haha, well you will.  Right now she's still in the bed of the truck and has the deck on her.

Yeah when you get to the Trans, see if it has LSD tag on it for limited slip. If so you can do the simple DOC Locker with the metal shims should you keep and play.

haha! Yeah that actually is not the parking brake. That's the deck engagement. It also has no right brake. Lots of things are different. When I get some pics I'll explain them all.

I think it'a a 2300 isn't it? Cuz they had that 1st gear "creeper gear" on these or whatever, haha.

Yeah they are 2300's the 100 has a the 1200 series.

Sounds like some serious modding there.

You're keeping the Kohler. I know you have the parts between the three parts motors to make one good one. Please stop dreaming about putting that briggs on there.

Agreed, that Briggs would probably never have the kinda torque that an old K Series has. Keep the Kohler W!! Haha.
