My Rat Rod Mower

New tie rod looks good! Still love the pointies! LOL! Man every time I see this thing, I see something new that I missed! I totally didn't realize the tag on the front. It's been there the whole time! LOL. Any steering difference? Same? Looks a lot more sturdy.

Thanks mighty! Yeah Im gonna keep adding stuff too hahaha! Steering is about the same, this is just an improvement over the old tie-rod.

I havent updated this thread in a while so I figured I'd just post a couple of pics of the ol' rat rod in 'er current state.





I've pretty much just been adjusting the drag link so the steering wheel is strait, cuz I cant stand when it's off by a bit hahaha. She's pretty much done for now I suppose, let me know what ya think!

Man, I now remember why I love this thing so much!! Hahaha, steering is great with the new front axle, the engine runs great and sounds awesome at full throttle! I have no complaints at this point, except for the right rear tire has a bead leak pretty bad. But I have a tube I can put in it just like I did with the other one. I'll get to that eventually hahaha! Let me know what ya think!

Yeah haha. Anyways I got a tube put in my rear tire so now I can drive it as much as I want without having to worry about the tire going flat, which is nice hahaha.

Just wanted to post a picture if the rat rod and the ol' Dominator posing together. I've been really having fun with the rat rod since I got it back to the farm, and I cant think of amy improvements I need to make to it (other than adding more little ratty touches obviously haha), so I guess I'm gonna call this project DONE! Its a rare thing but it does happen hahaha! Let me know what ya think!

Hahahaha, aw man. That's funny, haha. I definitely should get 'er back out though, we sure have enough snow here for some fun!

I now have this thing ready for the snow. I actually just need to put a belt on, but I have a brand new one for it in the cabinet.

I wanted to change the transaxle pulley and I did that a while ago, but my governor linkage is just so wore out I could only get half throttle out of it. So I also decided to bypass the governor plate and just hook it to the carb. And it worked! I had 'er running for a bit and boy does she ever bark hahaha.

This thing has been pulley swapped since I built it, just not very agressively. I just wanted a little bit more speed haha.

Haha. Well I think it's time the rat rod got a little re-vamp. First thing on the list is to remove the 11hp Briggs flatty and swap in the 12.5hp out of the MTD. Also gonna do a completely custom steering setup and maybe some front axle work. Possibly some other stuff, but first I'm just gonna work on the engine swap.

The 11hp has left the building! Gonna paint the other engine up just like this one because I really liked the blue and white.

I was just trying to figure out if the air cleaner setup fits fits with the hood and grille, and it clears everything just fine! Haha. Not much progress yet I know, but I'm gonna go at it throughout the summer hopefully, so stay tuned!

Nice to see the ol Rat Rod again! The 12.5 should give er a little more oomph. Any plans for the 11hp? Just as a spare engine?
