Briggs and Stratton 12hp - Oil dipper? Empty

Hi, I'm wondering if there is an oil dipper in a 12hp I/C engine. My aftermarket Conrod came with one but it doesn't fit. There didn't appear to be one on the engine originally either.

On a vertical shaft engine I wouldn't think so. Doesn't it have the plastic gears with paddles driven off the cam gear? If the rod is the same otherwise you could cut the dipper off (I assume you mean it's cast as part of the rod). Otherwise send it back if possible and get a different one. Maybe some numbers got crossed or something.

I've got the rod in the engine, the dipper isn't part of the rod. I think the rod fits in a couple different engines. And yes it does have the wee plastic paddles so maybe they splash the oil. Was just curious
