| yea it helps in some spots but then screws you over in others. i actualy do better with an unlocked tranny. you just gotta know how to drive one i think im gonna make like a guide to offroading tractors and give people tips so they can do better. i always see in vids people getting stuck when i could walk right through it with the same tractor you just gotta know how to drive with an open diff | |

| Itd be a pretty cool idea to have someone make /mod a trans that you can lock/unlock- i know some old tube frame bolens tractors have that option- turn a dial on the rear wheel and locks the whole trans. Maybe mod a trans with part of the back that can open- to put a pin in?
Yeah lockers have advantages and disadvantages - turning is one , but power/traction is bar none.
When i first starting modding/offroading tractors other then removing the deck, changing to tires with treads and hitting the swamp . All the tractors ive ran in the swamp were stock , everything from my 5HP toro to my 10HP agway - they went thru alot more , crawled over more then i expected - i rarely got stuck.
Only real time i got seriously stuck was when the rich muck soil got seriously thick and slippery, burried that sucker up to the footrests.
On most of my mod machines ill be running straight axles - like racers ill be needing to steer more with my behind then the steering wheel, but for pure power its something ill just deal with. | |

| lock trannys i think, for one locking them you can screw it up realy easily and grenade your tranny and ruin it. also you loose turning radius wich sucks when your in tight spots. also it seems like you get stuck alot more with a locked tranny then with it unlocked. ive made it through spots that my friends have that had locked trannys. you just gotta know how to drive with one | |
