| Working with what I believe is an early to mid nineties craftsman 18hp opposed twin. Haven't figured out how to post pics yet but as soon as I do I will. | |

| Thanks! I'm not tool poor, I've made sure of that. Been doing custom air ride suspension fabrication since the late nineties as well so moving into building a mower is easy. | |

Ill have to keep you in mind, I got a 72 chevy C-10 I was thinking about dropping to the ground but never messed around with air bags and such. I know I can do the work just don't know all the in's and out's of that stuff.

| I've got a question about how you lowered it, how did you configure the belt, did you use some sort of jack shaft? | |

Hadn't gotten there yet but yes I will have to make a jackshaft.

600's. The green one is mine. The blue is one I am fixing up to sell.

| So I was really wanting to do a centrifugal clutch on this but I can't seem to find one rated for over 13hp.
Any suggestions? I really don't want to use a clutch that works by loosening the belt, but I may wind up having to.

| I know comet makes clutches, and clutch converters, that would work. Doc should know more, there are many choices for them. Bad part is they are expensive.
Why you trying to stay away from the belt clutch? I can go 1 to 2 years on a belt.

| I really just wanted to set the belt tension and keep it as a constant. But I also don't want to spend a few hundred on a clutch. I'm trying to build this as budget minded as possible. Right now I have 0 dollars invested. I know I am going to have to spend a few hundred by the time I'm done but several hundred for one part is simply not part of the scope of this project. So more than likely the belt clutch I already have is going to stay. | |

| I wrote a spreadsheet that calculates different speeds with different pulley sizes based on engine RPM and individual gear ratios of the transaxle. Anyone want to test it for me? I think its right, but I could be wrong. | |

| I have an Excel-based sheet I do all my calcs with. Reverse calcs and actual speed and RPM measurements reveal it to be dead-on accurate. Give me a chance to bounce some numbers off yours, and we'll go from there. Thank you.
