| I am making a race mower not sure of how fast I want it because I don't want to go through transaxles. I already have moved the front axle forward a couple of inches. this is what I want it to look like. https://i.servimg.com/u/f56/18/41/48/01/img_0711.jpgI am going to paint mine with a sub lime green with matte black accents. I need to lower the back of the hood so it sits flat and lower the mower a couple of inches. I am using a electronic clutch so I don't have to worry about belts falling of as much. what axle should I look in to getting and how fast can I make it without wearing out transaxles.

| how fast should i make it because i don't want to wear out trans axles because i only have the one that is on it. i know i am going to have a 4 inch front pulley because of the electronic clutch. wondering what size back pulley to run that wont wear out trans axles but get a good top speed. | |

| For a fun speed, but not too fast for stock brakes/transaxle/steering, I would try a 1 to 1 ratio, which would me a 4 in rear if front is 4 in. Usually gets you 15-20mph.
Electric clutch sounds scary to me, they are very abrupt. | |

| yah the electronic clutch is going to be a hard hit on the mower. i am going to be building a brake system for it so that it can stop. | |

| i really dont like the idea of an electronic clutch, unless its like a foot operated button.. it just dosent seem safe to have to push a button to make it stop | |

| With a one inch pulley on the rear I don't think you'd have enough surface area for the belt to grab which will cause belt slip | |

| The electric clutch was an idea of my friends. I don't think I'm going to run it because I don't think it will take the abuse. It would have been minted to my original clutch pedal for the switch. I'm now just going to have to biuld a jacks haft so that it will be faster without slipping. | |

| I have a 3 on the engine what size should I make the jack shaft from the engine then to the transaxle and what size should I make the transaxle pulley. I need the 2 sizes for the jack shaft and then the size for the transaxle. | |

| I finally figured out I'm going to run the electric clutch but keep the original clutch as tensioner. The electri clutch gas a four inch on it and the back will have a three. How fast will it go with this setup? | |

| i kinda like that. it seems safe, AND reliable. kinda like a perminate neutral until you engage the electric clutch. its hard to tell how fast it would go, there is plenty of tables out on the internet that can help you | |

| Ok so now that I finally figured it out that I'm using the electric clutch as a gas pedal and keeping the stock clutch as tensioner and spare clutch. I'm putting it on tonight and we'll see how it goes. | |

| Now that I got the clutch on i have to biuld an jackshaft and put tensioner pulleys on so that I can get it around the shifter. I have to lower the mower and move the fenders back four inches so that my tires will fit under my fenders and won't rub and then paint. so I have a lot of stuff to do I'll keep you guys updated. | |

| well you think you want bigger the better for belt grip. i ran a 7" on the front to a 4" rear and hit about 30mph with a 5 speed spicer on 18" tires. it was very top heavy and uncontrollable tho because of stock steering and a locked tranny on pavement. | |

| The front is a five on the electric clutch and can't be changed. I'm running a 3 in the back. | |

| here's the picture of the fenders. I welded in supports for the seat so it won't break. I need to remount the fenders in their new spot for when I lower the mower. I'm going to paint them a Lamborghini green or sublime green. | |
