| How would a belt to chain 3spd gear box hold up to a 17 hp opposed twin and like 24's? I found a really rusty old huffy mini tractor in the woods and it has one of those gear boxes on it. Looking to make a lifted monster mower with it and my twin. | |

| im not shure but it probally would hold up to those size tires. A peerless 700 is one of the toughest 3 speeds around, so you could use that instead.

| hey, I have one of those right now. umm, the trans can hold up to a lot - theyre direct gear and no chain internals so (that is assuming its a stock trans to the mower)... I imagine it'd be fine. Ive had as big as a 16 up to my trans that came off the huffy and it never skipped a beat (or a tooth)

| I had a huffy, still have pieces of the transmission on the shelf. They are single speed, foward/reverse. | |

| Drag it home, clean it up, and see if there's any markings on it. It's probably pretty stout. Transmissions like that give you lots of gearing options. Instead of overspeeding (or overtorquing) the input, use the output sprocket/axle sprocket to achieve your final drive ratio. | |
