| Sweet, I wish I knew what the stamp was on my 18hp for next year's build-off. Cast iron flywheel with molded fins instead of the plastic fan? | |

| Got some junk from school today. We're just cleaning and packing for the new trade school now. I'm always walking out of there with something they throw out lol. Today, we have... A pedal on a big piece of like 3/4"x1-1/2" bar stock, a belt guard with cool perforated steel, some anti-vibration mounts, pillow block bushing things, two knob things, one on 1/2" and one on 3/8" shaft ID of the pillow blocks measure 1". Have a thing cast into em so they can bolt onto the edge of something, I might end up cutting that off for some applications. Two end mills and a 27/64" drill bit. The mounts aren't normal 5/16" thread on the inside, might have to retap them. One lonely 1/2" pillow block bearing Not sure what's up with this bevel gear. Looks to be off yard equipment. Has the dogs to engage to engage the shaft welded up for whatever reason. Those pieces of metal are actually for my buddy who makes knives and stuff(he's the dude who does the blacksmithing I posted on my youtube channel). Spring steel stuff, don't know how they were door hinges... A small box of these pins Pretty good for free, eh? | |

| That bevelled gear looks a lot like one of the forward or reverse gears out of a Foote 30 series transmission. | Cool load of parts!
In other news... people bash Oppys and their fuel consumption.
I went over 1.1 acres 3 times, once mowing and 2 times sweeping all on about 48 oz of fuel and still had some to spare with my 17hp oppy.

| My dad just got a brand new 2018 Ram 3500. 6.7L Cummins, 6 speed manual, 4x4, short box. Factory bedliner, gooseneck hitch, cd player(wooooooot), and engine brake(not a true jake brake though). First new truck he's had in his entire life. He's 45, lol. Hopefully I'll get his old truck (knock on wood...) | |

| For those who may be interested in the trans swap in my cousins Jacobsen, I thought I'd show ya the progress we make tonight! A found a donor Jake with an 8 horse flattie and a Foote 3-speed hi/lo trans for $150. It got picked up today and we started swapping the transaxle in! Just need to swap the wheels and get a belt! On an unrelated note, anybody know if MAP gas is better(hotter) than just propane? Bending a 1/2" steel tie rod with it just starting to get red is a pita. Do they require different torch heads? | |

| Yeah haha, I figured you'd want to know CQ. It's going very well! Since the frames are basically the same everything bolted up just fine. It needs a longer belt though because the frame on Carters is a few inches longer than the donor. Shouldn't be that hard to get it driving tomorrow really. I know he's excited, hahaha. I use map gas all the time for maintenance jobs at work and for working on tractors and cars at home. It’s definitely going to take some time to heat up a half-inch steel rod to a cherry red because there’s a lot of mass there to heat. With some patients map gas worked great for loosening bolts on the wheel bearing unit on my truck and loosening the exhaust on the Wheel Horse I mow with. | |

Mapp is definitely hotter but to get the full effect you need a Mapp nozzle. Head Forum Administrator ** Chat Moderator ** Facebook Page AdminATLTF Facebook Page ** Chatbox ** How To Upload Pictures

| Build, orpile some stuff around the rod to help keep the heat, it wont take as long.
No oxyfuel torches?
If you have a good solid vise, clamp the bar in there, and slide a pipe over the end and bend it cold?

If you have a good solid vise, clamp the bar in there, and slide a pipe over the end and bend it cold? Getting an oxyfuel setup is expensive. Bending it cold is what i ended up doing the second time i bent it lol
