ok guys so I have a lot done so ill update you over the days so im not spamming. ill start with the clutch:
I made a solid mount to the frame...

rope for mock-up and belt retainer in

linkage connects to this, the rod is the foot petal clutch engager.

linkage and the 5/8 bolts

small piece holds the spring on the clutch

Brace across chassis rails then washer welded to it, bolt goes thru it, and nut on the other side. adjustable spring tension (I need a tighter spring tho)

Yay! drove it a little with 2 bolts holding the seat, moved wires, and a shifter falling off. max speed is like 10 mph.

I see from your pics I really need to get a flux core welder, those welds looks like a stick weld but with a never ending stick, gotta love that. And tbh it's the strongest weld compared to a mig atleast.

Eventually im getting a stick welder for really thick stuff the ol' 90 amp cant get. problem is my garage is 175 feet away from my house so I think ill have to run 220v off the side of my house and just haul everything up there to weld. I like wire because you can get to more tighter spaces and great for any experience level. I don't run mig just because of cost.

I was told by a couple guys that weld for a living and they say flux core weldin is better than gas mig weldin.
Becaues the flux welder get better penatration than a gas mig welder.

Yup. You'll find that with a GMAW/FCAW convertible machine, it is capable of much thicker material in FCAW mode.

Case in point- I have a Lincoln Power MIG 180 dual. At 120v, the GMAW range is 24ga.-10ga. In FCAW mode is 20ga.-5/16".

This is the new battery box here. I put that spring tentioner in there which required a crossbrace in the chassis, so I couldnt put the battery in the stock way.

I started with taping off the parts I needed to cut...

tires - MTD off-road romper build. - Page 3 Image_53
tires - MTD off-road romper build. - Page 3 Image_52
Then made a seat brace for the section I had to cut out.

cut out metal I needed and genially burned it in.

I think i settled on a new welder, either this one: http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200403263_200403263
Or this one: http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200332691_200332691
Both get good reviews but a $160 something price difference. I think ill shoot for the 135, i can sell my GM lq4 6.0L engine parts for it. i have $210 saved up.

I'm Not a huge fan of flux core welders my self, They are handy though for working out in the feild where any sheilding gas can be blown away by the wind. And as for the Flux core being stronger then a regular MIG welder, I havent heard that ever in the past 4 years of training (still got 2 more years of it hah) For a weld to be strong, You gotta prep it right. Not trying to critique you on your welding skills, But In the pics you posted of the Battery Box and Seat Support if you Beveled the patch a bit at a 45 degree angle if you could and only Tac weld it instead of doing long beads it would be a bit stronger and look better. Tac all 4 corners, then fill in the area slowly letting each area cool before you put another tac in the peice wont warp at all. These are common mistakes i made when i started out. But this is a kick ass build thread man, keep up the good work and cant wait to see more progress and some Rompn Videos!!
