Cable, little hook, any maybe some D rings up front? - Thunderdivine wrote:

I think ill get some 3/4" washers and have the axle itself be the drum. The cable might get a little twisty being a small drum but its A LOT stronger then what i can think up right now. I will maybe bump it up to a 1" drum if i can find a piece of pipe that has a 3/4" inner bore.

| Really like the idea of the pto winch, typical redline, out of the box thinking with good planning and design. As far as your "drum" 1 inch tubing with .125 wall would have a 3/4 ID | |

Thanks i appreciate it. Yea id like a little bit bigger drum, so ill search my parts pile for something. if not no big deal. Some guys talked about brakes for it so ill have to integrate that somehow.

| No sweat Red, Actially, the correct measiring points are the centers of the rollers on the chain (shown) and the centers of the roller cavity (for lack of better terms) on the sprocket. The sprocket is incorrectly labeled for points of measure, but the peaks of the teeth are close enough! | |

| as far as a brake for the winch, why not use a small mechanical caliper on the sprocket its self? I remember seeing a rear engine tractor at the junkyard that had that setup | |

I thought of that, but the 8T and 40 T will be really close together for mounting so, in chat, Thunderdivine suggested some transaxle brakes. maybes good sence, maybe something with a band brake, or maybe a rotor if i can find a caliper that fits. lots of things that could work, so ill keep my eyes open.

| Well someone on youtube helped me out on a broken gear in my foote gearbox. I dont need forward gears, just need gears incase one decides to blow again. They told me that MTD FNR axle bevel gears are the same and he used em in his. Well off to the internet! Sears helped my out providing this diagram of the gears. IF everything fits (witch it looks like it does) id have to switch both gears and part #17 and it will all work. Good to know! | |

| Nifty looking winch. I haven't checked up on this in a while. What's your idea for engagement of the belt? Hand or foot operated? | |

Yep belt engagement with a lever like a mower deck lever. something you can push or pull and lock in engagement. - 1997 Murray wrote:

Rob parts? what do you mean, my stripped gears? someone on youtube said i should be able to swap gears out (shown above) but he hast tested the gearbox out with new gears. If you mean by the axle itself, its a little to big for my tastes i guess, i mean originally i was just gunna have the orange gearbox and a spool right off the output shaft but ratios were way to high.

| Band brake would work real good. Lever actuated with a good strong spring should get you great results. Head Forum Administrator ** Chat Moderator ** Facebook Page AdminATLTF Facebook Page ** Chatbox ** How To Upload Pictures

Yea just gotta figure out a caliper. Speaking of brakes ill need to upgrade my transaxle brake to what the mowrons have because mine barely slows it down now
