| well, im a cheap @$$ so im going to "borrow" the flex disc system off my cub cadet and use it on dixie, hopefully ill get her going in the next week or so....going do use stretch's way of fixing the starter to, so it might be about to get the 18 back, which raises the question of, should i use a kohler or should i use a briggs, the briggs im used to working on, but the kohler has pressurized oil..... | |

| it has alot of torque , now i got to buy a starter lol and runn a exhaust(just to try it i did it with out pipes at all) P.S DONT EVER CRANK YOU MOTOR FOR MORE THAN A FEW SECONDS WITHOUT EXHAUST PIPES AS IT WILL RUIN YOUR VALVES. | |

You can eventually (note eventually) suck a valve but the biggest issue is the extreme lack of backpressure causing it to run really crappy if it even starts. Otherwise, really no threat at all. |

| my sister had a old jeep CJ7 and the thing was falling apart but had a rebuilt engine with only 98k on it we didnt have the cash for mufflers so i just the exhaust off at the header and ran it till the flywheel broke and congrats on getting that monster v-twin running | |

SUCK a valve??? Who the heck told you this? There's a very minimal chance of thermal cycle warping, but very minimal... Regarding back pressure (again)... with no exhaust, you lose scavenging. Aside from the slight efficiency loss (and related jetting issue) you should have NO PROBLEM starting and running an engine with an open exhaust. I do it very frequently when I'm working on them. | |

| so.....how should i run the exhaust on dixie witht the 29 hp? true duals all the way to the back coming out the corners of the rear fenders? or 2 into 1 ? i don't want to do stacks, also, ima have to cut a hole in the hood for the air breather lol. this motor is huge its 105 lbs dry | |

also, ima have to cut a hole in the hood for the air breather lol. this motor is huge its 105 lbs dry 105lb wow lucky my oppy is 130 something .-. and for your mufflers i would run them out the rear get like 1" pipe for the headers to the front of the foot rest then get some 3" tube and run it from that 1" all the way out the rear that will give it a nice deep rumble at idle and at max throttle she will be screaming lol | |
