| There both the same price the kholer needs carb work and the briggs is only firing on one cyclinder.

| go with the briggs. mine has a 19 horse briggs and it is the only thing on that tractor that hasnt let me down yet, and plus, that "smart spark" engine translates to me as "continuous problem" and " Im only for mowing or ill die" | |

Well first thing first, does it get a spark, if no. Check plug, coil. Swap with the one that do spark, if no. Check valves. If no, unfasten, voila it runs | |

| Personally I would go with the kohler because it is also a v-twin and runs on both cylinders, and has 5 more hp, and typically kohlers are a newer motor so they wont have hard to find parts, also why would you run a briggs with onecylinder! I prefer briggs but if its only running on one cylinder, why wouldyou even think about choosing it, sure the kohler needs carb work but seriously? More hp and less work. | |

| i say get the one with both cylinders firing lol my buddy had a briggs that was only firing on one and him and his brother who was a mechanic were always workin on it, never could git it right, besides the kohler aith that hard to get parts for, go to partstree.com, you can get parts for about anything to do with lawn tractors | |

| Also to say opposed drinks alot of gas, easier to find parts, but a v-twin has greater power, I own a opposed its okay, I'd rather have a v-twin. Its your choice | |
