Made a piece with a lot heavier wall thickness. Just gotta weld it on there now I guess. I had to bore it half from either side, so I turned a band on each end where I could indicate the part true after I flipped it in the lathe, so the bore would match up where it met in the center. Turned out good that way.

Got the backhoe welded up. Let me preface this with saying I don’t know crap about welding. Tacked it up and preheated weld area til it started turning blue, then threw the root pass around it. 1/8 6013 @120a with an AC buzzbox. Probably put like 6 welds on the sides and three ish top and bottom. Did start with good chamfers and clean material too. I figure it’ll be alright. Better than factory anyway.

Threw a coat of black paint on and drilled and tapped for a grease fitting shortly after this.

If it was in a lot better shape. Maybe. But in the condition it is in, not really. Even with the homemade box blade.

In my area that’s a quick sell. I’d offer 180 and count on swapping in a motor. Hoods are probably gonna be pretty thin too so a patch or two may be needed.

Think it only wound up being $60 in gas. My ‘89 Toyota pickup does 28mpg unloaded on the highway.

I have a ‘00 ranger and that thing is ugly as sin. It looks like a truck got stung by a bee and is in anaphylactic shock, thing is so puffy looking. Also it weighs some thousand pounds more than the Toyota and absolutely sucks to work on compared to the yota…hey you wanna buy a ranger? lol!
