I got my first 820 and before I pull it out and tear into it can anyone give my a part list / build list on what bearings I will need to buy and if I can upgrade the reverse chain.  I plan on locking it but have not decided what design I'm going to go with yet.  It's an 820 6 speed out of a 1990 craftsman gt  I really don't want to mess it up since I was so lucky to find one. Hoping to go around 25 mph to 30 mph  will play in the mud and typical trail rides on trails around my house  hoping for input on what part number the bearings would be for new  plan on running gear oil and 5 inch pulley and 6 inch motor  20h.p. intek v twin.  Is a breather valve a good option for it? Going to put a skid plate on it also. I saw somewhere that a person was talking about upgrading the reverse chain but not sure in it was on here or just Google.  Also part numbers for axle seals would be great to.   If nobody has the part numbers on hand that's ok just hoping for the best input of what to look out for. Really don't want to mess it up thank you ahead of time and happy romping

Edit. Plan on running 25 x10r12 , 26x 8r12, Or 23x10r10 undecided and wouldn't mind opinions on that also

With 1" axles I'd think that 12 inch wheels would be the best, probably came with 12's from the factory and there's alot of good 12" tires available, I'd go for 10" wide myself and overall a 25x10-12 should fit and work really well in ALL terrains including mud, 8" is a little skinny for rear tires.

As for the part numbers, someone here may know off hand but a good way to track all part numbers down in one go is to *hopefully* find the actual parts manual for the tractor or search the full Peerless number on the unit itself.

Yes adding a breather is basically a requirement when speeding up and axle that much or the pressure can blow out the seals.

You can download a free Tecumseh Technician's Handbook online that has that Peerless 820 in their service manual along with more. Do a search online for a free pdf download.

Tecumseh/Peerless transaxles

Also like the guy says before if you can get the model number from the existing tractor it will sometimes show individual part numbers for the 820 but not how to SERVICE (take apart)

You can get all kinds of axle wheel adapters on-line The taller the rims/wheel the more tippy the machine especially if the front axle tilts. 12 inch wheels allow the use of aggressive ATV tires.

Tecumseh / Peerless Motion Drive System (wfmfiles.com) Links to it all over the forum.  820's are pretty tough.

Thank you everyone. Been really busy lately so I haven't been able to hop on the forum and catch up with everyone's help and advice. Hoping I get to tear into it soon. And will post updates once I'm able to get some extra free time. It's one of the many projects I have and cutting firewood for the winter season
