George Gooding's Mini-Beast [Former 2019 Build-Off Entry]

This will be my first true build so please bear with me. My plans for it will include but not limited to:
Entirely new paint scheme
Stretched frame
Custom built bumper/brush guard
Custom front axle using 1x2x11ga tubing
Custom front spindles and hubs with bearings instead of bushings
Winch
LED lights
Hopefully a pair of 25x10x12 or taller atv tires on the rear
Tool and battery boxes mounted on the rear
Custom receiver hitch
Will be leaving the T-axle unlocked
Cargo rack(s)
Rewire to include a fuse box

Mini beast, I like it! Originally, what is that tractor? And front wheel bearings are a great choice, especially for higher speeds. Good luck!

Originally it's a MTD 800 series, those front wheels are from a Honda atv, 18 hp oppey and a peerless 2300 T-axle. Can't seem to source any 3/4 x 1 3/8 non-flanged greasable bearings though, will not give up on them as bushings are hopefully not an option for me.

Looks like a Solid Mower to start with!!

Got a little more done this weekend, I like how it's turning out just not how long it's taking. Actually did a little more than what's pictured but I won't show it until I'm pleased with how it looks but I will post pictures of the frame crss brace for the front axle when I'm done welding, grinding and drill drilling it

Finally finished the front spindles, made out of w2 tooling steal, 3/16" plate, 1 1/16 and 2 tubing. Got 1 mounted. (Wife got hungry so I couldn't finish, LoL), supposed to be taking it out for some testing on the 27th and 28th if everything goes ok, will post a video after.

Finally got some back tires, 25x10-12

Almost finished with the front axle set up but at least it's under it's own weight. Next is the steering, gas pedal and hopefully I can get the tires mounted. So far looking good for the actual field test at the end of the month.

Ooo, neat looking suspension setup! Looks like there are two pivot points, is it an independent setup?

It's a semi-IFS, now I just need to figure out the steering set up

Yeah, looks kinda like a trophy-truck style independent setup. Should be pretty cool! Are you planning on running radius arms or are the beams and pivots strong enough as is?

Is that a leaf spring function as the lower arm on the suspension? This reminds me of some golf karts I have seen.

I haven't decided yet, it's all made out of 1x2x11 ga tubing, 1/4" plate and 3/4" grade 8 bolts

Got the hood on and temporary steering so I can test out the front axle. Shocks ended up being a lot stiffer than I anticipated. Will definitely have to source out some ATV shocks for it. It

No leaf springs, I thought about using one but decided that would be too easy, LoL

Woops my bad thought the arms were a single leafspring. Looks good man. The bigger tires will bring up the rear just enough. It will still have a pretty good squad but that should look good with the stretch ans suspension.

Holy sky sniffing! I thought my tractor was nose up when I was building it. Looking good man!

Only 1 question.. you are building your own independant front. How strong do you think your axle is? With the bigger tires and "sending it" That axle will get stressed pretty good. What do you think the likelyhood of you bending or snapping the axle back would be?
