@Shane87 here's my thread on how I locked my 930-011a 6 speed. It's a pretty good guide for what you'll need to do. My 6 speed hasn't had any issues yet!

Fluid wise, use some oil by filling it up with the fill plug.

I disagree with welding a differential. The gears can break, the welds can break, all kinds of stuff. If I were you, I would throw an extra set of gears into it, or do a Doc Locker. Either one is weldless and will probably never break.

Although I typically disagree with locking your diff, to begin with. You can easily just get better tires and then you will perform better than those with a locker, because when your non-aggressive tires (which are mandatory for that style trans and a locker) when they fill in, you're screwed and you're stuck.

Yes, the so assuming you know how a diff works, you take 2 extra spider gears and put them in the spots where there are no gears. It keeps all of them from moving.

@Double W Cross Ranch have you read my thread that I posted the URL above .because what your explaining is exactly what I did to my 930 . I just took extra precaution by welding them in solid . Still haven't had an issue . Even if you use a correct gear tooth and not weld them , I would see them having play and chance putting of either A. Breaking teeth off spiders or cause a outward force causing the bull gear to annihilate itself and/or damage the case .

I have read your thread, even though it may work I just disagree with it. Anyway, we are hijacking Shane's thread.

Also with my pulley ratio , If I hold the throttle at about 1/2 and dump the clutch lol I can stand the mower up on two wheels. Not saying to do what I do , but I do it pretty often and I've opened my 930 up after a few months of beating on it and everything looked good. I removed the reverse chain just for precaution as well.

Sounds like you have the stock clutch pulley assembly still. If you want to have a foot throttle , you would want to make your own clutch assembly . I prefer a double pulley clutch. It puts more tension on the belt and less slippage . Here's a pic of what I did when I converted a varidrive to a 6 speed

Transaxle oil/grease - Page 2 20180339

Or keep the stock clutch and make it a hand throttle .

So the owners manual says to use Bentonite Grease. A buddy of mine has some 80w-90 with synchromesh lol can I use that instead. And should I split it and clean it first or can I just dump it in?

Gear oil is better in a trans than grease in my opinion, especially with higher than stock speeds. You will have to make a gasket to go between the case halves though just so the oil doesn't all leak out. Also make sure the axle seals are in good shape so the oil doesn't leak out of the axle housings.

I would say scoop out as much old grease as possible, then clean the remaining stuff out with brake clean or gasoline and maybe a few rags.

@Shane87 read that url that I sent to you a few posts ago . It's the same transaxle you have . It should answer most of your questions. Like I used ATF to clean the parts and filled with 75w90 . Any gear oil will work fine for the most part.
