| I didn't read every post but for your belt dragging issue, a guide or guard fairly close around the engine pulley may help to stop it. Sometimes they pull themselves tight if they don't have a guard around them, which keeps it dragging. Looks cool though. Nifty exhaust. | |

| The belt was just to short I needed a 65.5 inch but all there was were 46 and 47, so I tried 46 and now it's a 47 and needs a new clutch. Took it on a 5th gear run today, did ok but I don't think it hit above 55 ish. I need to get the clutch redesigned again to take out the belt slippage. But other wise it handles well. Wasn't as freaky as I imagined it being at that speed. Doesn't want to shiftninto 5th while moving so I just started in 5th and clutched it slowly until I got going. Need to figure that one out I guess. | |

| Dude awesome first test drive!!! I could tell by the audio in the clip that you were really enjoying it. I wonder why it wouldn't shift into 5th on the go? I hope you can get your hands on a GPS soon and measure the top speed. I'm excited to know what it is. | |

| Not too much new to it, just a throttle lever and new clutch. It needs to be switched to direct steering as the minimal play is magnified at 50 ish mph on dirt roads. Should get a tip speed run tomorrow. Needs belt keepers and something to help the oil mess. | |

| So , a thing has happened that involves this machine. I got a 99cc 5 speed Honda motorcycle engine from a freind to put on it and take off the mower tranny and mower engine. This will probably disqualify it but for higher speeds the 700 will not last long and I am going for durability and a fun machine to play around on. Not set in stone but very likely to happen as I have the engine in my garage now. | |

| Sounds like a good plan to me!!! For long lasting high speeds I think a motorcycle drivetrain is the way to go. Taking it out of the build off isn't the end of the world man. Build it the way you want to build it. | |

| Well, for now I have an interesting idea for revamping this build and making it useful for off road riding . I will post pics once I get some mock up going and parts cleaned up. Does changing the outcome of the machine dq it ? | |

| Well right now I have robbed the engine pulley and the tranny is still off and I don't want to buy another live axle and would prefer a slower machine that is off road capable but still has some high travel speeds like a rally machine. So that's what I am going for right now. Also lightweight so when it gets stuck I can lift it put without breaking my back or digging it out. | |

| Yeah I don't really like the ride of light machines either. My Ford is a little on the light side and it has sort of an odd feeling on certain terrains. The light weight makes you feel more aware of everything you drive over sorta thing, kinda hard to explain I guess. | Well, the uploaded isn't allowing me to upload. Might be our bad Wi-Fi. But anywho, got the engine off and pulled put the axle and propped up the spicer with the atv tires on in in its general location. Looks like it will be pretty cool . Engine will go forward between the riders legs and the seat will be moved back over the tranny for better wheelies in the mud holes . | |

| Interesting... I am wondering if there is an upload limit? I will mention it to Doug when he is back to the real world. I saw several LARGE images uploaded today. Thank you for bringing it up.
Now back to the build-off thread. I don't want to hijack it more than I have. | |

| tranny is in, engine is in mounting location. Yes ik, it's dangerous looking to have that large thing between your legs near sensitive areas but it's the only way it fits. Mabye a protective plate will be added between the seat and engine. Pulley ratio is going to be a 6.5" to a 5.75" or something similar. So should get speeds of around 26 mph as it is ungoverned. Plans are to get it finished and call it complete and post a video of it to end it's build off career then sell it with turf tires instead of the atv tires. | |
