Craftsman GT3000 "MUTT" Part I

Yeah. I have locusts trees out here, they are covered in thorns up to 8 inches long! Not fun to bump into one of those

I think we had locusts back in new york. They grow fast, so they make good fenceposts lol. Only reason to keep em around

I like how low it idles, Makes it really sound like a Harley. Do you just turn in the idle screw? I want to do it on my craftsman. Is MUTT un-governed to?

I just turned the idle screw out to where I liked the sound and she doesn't stall a lot. The oppy is ungoverned.

I finally got around to sitting down and watching your videos. Your exhaust sounds awesome. When you sped up the footage it made your tractor sound like a circular saw! That's giving me some new nickname ideas lol. Are you thinking about putting a winch on this thing after you got it stuck? It didn't look too bad to get it out though.

I thought it made it sound like a 2 stroke lol. I've wanted a winch since the beginning but I haven't had the change to buy one, or a decent battery to run it.

Anybody here know how a Delco 10si would hold up to being regularly doused in water and mud and the such? I figure if I go with a bigger battery I should probably upgrade the charging system. I'd probably put the 10si in the frame of the tractor where I could run it with the drive belt. It'd most likely get a taste of everything I drive through.

If I don't make the 10si work I could find one of those little generators they have on kubotas and drive it off the pull start pulley. But that would involve finding a kubota generator lol.

Yeah I don't know if an alternator would like being wet and muddy all the time. What about just trying a voltage regulator like some of the Briggs oppys have? That might help a bit.

Well I was kinda wanting to get away from the whole stator setup. Something that'll put out more than 5 amps.

Really would be. I just remembered, my friend's dad had one of those alternators seize up on his kubota. Wonder if he still has it. I could probably make it work again.

Mother nature is back at it again being bipolar. Drifted around in the pasture a bit. May or may not have attempted to put er in a low earth orbit a few times after I found a little knoll that makes a good ramp. Video up today or tomorrow.

Oh just a thought on the generator idea, some gold cartsnhave a mostly sealed belt drice starter that once the engine is running it becomes a generator. Pretty nice units . I have one out in the shed if you want any pics to get an idea of it

Oh, like the starter/gens on the old Sears and Speedexes? Those are pretty cool. If you could get some pics of that, that'd be cool

An old starter generator from a garden tractor would be neat, but it'd probably be kinda hard to fit though 'cuz they're pretty big.

Ok. Will go snap a few. Could also be a backup starter since oppys wear out standard Briggs starters so easy.

Think id need a bigger engine pulley to use it for a starter gen(mounted on top)
