Abusing my lungs and stash of dollar-can black today.
Like a whole new trapter now! Hopefully in the next few days I'll have something done for the steering hub, maybe I'll paint a few misc things too. Mainly the front axle.
Edit: Opinions on what I should do with the grille screen? I'm thinking about painting it black, but maybe I'll leave it though.
Got crazy with a paint marker. Turns out they make good raised lettering paint. Threw a few other stickers on but I dont think they're in the pics
Got her all fixed and prettied up for yesterday's auction(the paint and stickers) two nights ago. She drove up to the auction flawlessly. Everyone there loved it. Drove it around a bit for em, went to go for my second wheelie and POP CRACK RRRRRRRRRRRRR. Killed the input gears or somethin idk. Brakes still work but when you put it in any gear she just roars and doesn't go anywhere. Case isn't damaged(externally) any more than it was. Whoops. Got my eye out for another 820.
On the bright side, I got another almost new 56 frame motor for dad's drill press! That's a $200 motor I got for $20. Bolted right in too!
The tires look great Rich! I did that on the MTD when I first put the Duros on but it doesnt really stand out anymore haha. Too bad about your trans, hopefully you'll be able to find a replacement one for a good price

It sucks, but this trans was kinda dickered anyways. Had a major groan(you can hear it in my vids) plus the lower case was cracked, and 2nd gear was missing teeth. Oh well, 820s are fairly common around here, especially in Muray Gts. I'll just have to keep my eye out.

Sucks about your Transaxle. Looks like you just need a top half? Or did both halves get damaged? Anything lined up yet?
I guess the marker paint on the tires was just too much for it.
Top half was the only one that is unusable, but i think the bolts pulled out of the bottom screwing up the threads. Could use nuts from the bottom side. Bottom half had that one crack in it anyways, better to replace the whole thing. Gears seem intact besides 2nd gear which is missing a tooth. Will post pics when I get home, at school now

Bottom line I need a new top case and the driven of the 2nd gear set. I can make do with the bottom case I have by running longer bolts and having nuts on the bottom. or running bolts up through and using them as studs. I'll try and find a whole other transaxle before I buy the individual parts to fix this one.
It'd probably be easier to find another one from another tractor and drop it in like I did. I thought about fixing the 920, but parts get lost, always the possibility I didn't get the right one...etc. But if you pick up one that doesn't have all the gears working, mix and match till you get one good one lol

Haven't been doing much with Mutt lately. Bolted the trans back together so I can roll her around at least. Put a relay in for the ignition switch so it'll shut off with the key switch. Still runs, surprisingly. Haven't even had to charge the battery. Check my youtube channel for that stuff, didn't take any pics.
Was in the middle of rolling her back in the shop before it started raining, took some pics cause she looks cool lol.
Finally got another 820! Well, I got a tractor with an 820 lol. Murray widebody GT with 21hp 46ci splash lube oppy. 5spd 820-037 with the long axles, and a long input shaft turned down to 5/8. Gonna swap this input shaft for the 3/4 one from the blown 820-016. Also gonna swap whatever gears i have to to get this one to 6 speed. Had it running and driving a bit but I'm already tired of it so I'm disassembling it already.
Came with two decks and the high back seat, might put together one deck and sell it

Put a different starter on her and she started right up, surged though. Cleaned the carb once, it ran fine then. Tank's still dirty though, so she started surging again...gr
This thing had been ran into something a few times(hood reflects that theory too) Wheels are toed out because the axle was bent and has negative caster. If murray didnt have such a stupid steering setup it would have just pointed the wheels to the left. Oh, it has 7/8" spindles too.
Battery that came with it is junk. I didnt even know they made 150cca batterys.
Dropped the trans last night. tried the wax trick and a hammer, didnt work. Hoping the brake fluid I'm letting it soak in does the trick, or else I'm cutting it off.
