| I checked out a bunch of small ones that are available new awhile back. This one is about $300. I think I saw one somewhere for $250-275 also. There are a couple from different brands. One is a copy of the other one or something like that. This one has a built in waste gate and they sell oil pumps and accessories also. They specify a range of engine sizes somewhere on the page I think. I was thinking of getting one at some point. Just don't have a use for it just yet. Small turbo | |

| I always thought about turboing my mini mower i made up but never got around to it (obviously), but at the salvage yard theres a isuzu box truck with a tiny garrett. would be neat, but i picture myself breaking all the bolts not having a torch. Just as a suggesting for maybe a used ebay turbo or the like. | |

| i probably should have gave more back info, mr.modified, ive seen those small turbos but im skeptical as too whether or not they actually work and/or if they will last at all, and im looking to spend up to 100$ i am just turboing a mower engine and im not too sure if im gonna get it to run right and build boost without blowing the heads off, i was hoping for more of a used one out of a pull yard ive scavenged two smaller yards and came up with nothing. and redline ive seen some of those ebay turbos go for about 125$ but just from pictures i dont really know how big they are, they might be too big for me to build any boost without having a ton of lag. i might just have to see what i can come up with the pull yards around my house | |

| I know almost nothing about turbos. Bought a couple of books but just skimmed through them and then kind of got bored of it. I remember one saying in general, most engines will take about a 10% increase in power from a turbo being added with everything stock. There's all kinds of figures for everything. A lot of talking about air flow and all that. Pretty technical stuff. Seemed a lot more boring than reading about engine modifications which is why I gave up for now. Sizing of the turbo I would imagine not only depends on engine size, but also how high your going to rev it. A engine that can handle 6-7000rpm is going to flow twice as the same size engine at half that speed (more or less). I always figured go pretty small for a lawn mower engine. Ideally, you build up an engine with a billet rod and heavier piston. Then you could take better advantage of a turbo. Otherwise with stock stuff, you might get an idea of how they work, but maybe not much usable increase in power. I wanted to use one of those tiny ones with a modified 5hp briggs flathead on a minibike, but the only problem is getting an oil pump. | |
