| Hi guys, my names Dan. I'm from Hamburg, New York (10 minutes south of buffalo) I found this site in kind of a roundabout way. I got a 1969 sears ss12 for free, and during some research on it I found fearlessfront's YouTube channel, promptly subscribed, watched just about every video, and in one of them he mentions doc sprocket. After subscribing and watching all of doc's videos I decided that I definitely want to build an off road mower, so here I am. In my garage right now I have that old Sears in dire need of work, a case 108 small tractor that I've already swapped a 15hp Briggs into, also in dire need of work but atleast it runs and moves, and also an old snapper comet 30 that actually works and I'm just using to mow my lawn. I have plenty of winter project ideas for both the case and the Sears, but I might just focus on the case for now so I can enter the Sears in the build-off next year. Great site and I'm happy to be part of it! | |

| Welcome and all that kinda stuff. Is the original cast iron engine in your sears? I build a sears but I used a newer 11hp briggs. Mine is a 1971. Bumper ideas for you if you want to get real out of control welding pipe together. Post some pics if you can. Baja Sears | |

| Thanks guys. Mr. Modified- yes I have the original 12hp. But the tractor was left outside for over a decade, and water got into the tank. Before it rotted out the tank, it crept down the fuel line and rotted out the float bowl on the carb. I have a carb that may work... A #18 Clinton from a smaller Kohler. The engine still has spark and the oil is as black as death (so no water) I'd really like to use the original engine with the starter/generator because I love stuff that's vintage. But, worse case scenario I have a 70's toro 11/32 snowblower that works fine. I can swap the engine over and I was planning on using the tires as front tires anyways and possibly the auger gearbox as a steering box. | |
