Speedy Thingy

I picked up a project this weekend. Here's a peek at it:



The initial plan was to just clean it up and have some fun. Now, my brain had gone into overdrive. I'm picking out all the little things I don't like, and I'm leaning further and further towards a total re-do. Crap! More work!

Ultimately, I'm aiming for a small, light, speed machine that I can turn out more donuts than Dunkin', and set some personal speed records...

Initial test rides were scary. This thing is a disaster. It seems the secondary clutch is mounted the wrong way around, too! AARGH!

Soooo... The more I stare at it, the less I'm leaving alone. We're into completely replacing the chassis now!

This past winter, I picked up an old Sears simply because it had a Peerless 700 in it. Having stripped out what I wanted, the rest was sitting in my scrap pile.

The more I looked at it, the more I realized that the old Sears chassis was indeed the same stamping. That will make things marginally easier, for measuring. Although, with some of the changes I'm gonna end up making, I'm not sure how much it really matters.

I tried looking at some rotax nicknames.... Didnt really come across much. Maybe rotax attack? Not sure. plenty of good names on youtube

Make a "mohawk" out of tacks, welded down the centerline of the hood.
