What is the shaft size of lawntractor transaxles?

Hi everyone, do any of you know what the shaft size of lawntractor transaxles are? Are they a universal size? I have one of those MTD single speeds (717-761) that i want to pulley swap properly and get rid of my homemade way. I wasnt sure if they were 5/8".

They DON'T have a regular key-way like most trans-axles, they have splines.  I think it is 5/8 but I am not sure.

Thanks, i thought it would be 5/8 but i will get one of those digital measuring tapes to check it. I think i might just get a 5/8 and weld it to my shaft.

Looks more like flat spots, and not splines, if it's the same type.

I think some are different, junkstar ran into the problem i believe when swapping axles
