Subject: Could i get a motor number to a Tecumseh? November 1st 2010, 4:25 pm

Well to make a long story short I have a craftsman lawnmower the boxy 80's grey look.. Well the guy before me painted it black. I took the carb off and had my local small engine guy tell me it was to rusted and the float was all fubar. Well I cant seem to find the motor ID number.. 9 numbers.. It was a 12hp tecumseh ohv motor. The number should be 137.xxxxxx something. I was just wondering maybe one of you guys could give me the motor number? Thanks!

Ill have to look at my teccy out in the shed tomm - i have a craftsman just like it with the numbers- i kept the teccy to abuse the snarkies out of sometime ( pukes oil thru the breather, but runs).

I think i got a carb that might fit that, it came off of the old 8hp teccy i took off my murray street mower.
It might not be jeted rite for a 12hp though.
Is your cabr the two piece or is the intake and the carb one piece?

its a 2 piece. Anyone have an engine number?

No i junked the engine it's self.

D'oh! knew i forgot something- ill have time to get out to the shed tomm - ill see what the numbers are.

ok- finally got a minute out in the shed- heres what mine says :

Stamped on the front of the flywheel shroud, just above the OHV cover - 143 396132 SER 9090R - the sticker still on the side just has engine specs and maintence specs.

ahh the part number is 632774. they are over 100$ each affraid

Id say its time to look for a donor motor/tractor.

I'd agree, it would proably be cheaper to get a whole nother tractor than a carb!

Check Ebay, I got a carb from there once for under $25 shipped.

Post a picture of the carb Im interested to see how bad it really is. I have cleaned some really bad carbs in my past. There alluminum mostly so they should come clean with some elbow grease, and as for the float, they are like $5 at my local shop.

I just picked up one off of ebay for 32 $.. it is for my snowmower Smile
