| hey guys, i have a bolens 1055 and i HAVE to put new front tires on. there is one problem. i cant figure out how to remove the wheel from the spindle! it seems there is a collar with a set screw, using an allen head bolt. i used every allen wrench to my disposal, metric and US. none of them fit. i dont know if im doing something wrong or what. if you guys can give me any info on how this system works, it'd be greatly appreciated. i can get pics tomorrow if yall want. | |

| well, i hate to raise this from the dead, but i still havent found one that fits.. and neither of my fronts will hold air for more than 12 hrs, so i NEED to get them off and change them, before winter. i might just have to drill the set screws out | |

| I can't imagine the hex to be any kind of freaky, non-imperial-yet-non-metric size. Perhaps some surface rust or crud has altered the dimension, causing your issues finding a fit. certainly, a common problem. I don't suppose you have a spiral-fluted extractor you can smack in there to back them out?
Failing that, you'll probably have to either drill out the set screws, or split the collars. | |
