| So at the junkyard theres a few snowmobiles. one of witch is a Polaris indi 500 that I pulled steering rods off. I looked at the suspention and got a idea to adapt this to a mower. They use a 3 link type setup that looks beef enough for a mower. Heres what im talking about: Its nice because you can put the two links in tight spots like on my mower. Problem is the spindles, I was thinking you can make a c knuckle like stretches craftsman or cut the ends off a stock front axle (the part the houses the spindle bushings and spindel) and just weld it to the side of the joint that the have. the long radius arm (?) looks like it wont be hard to mount. Steering doesn't look to hard either. I have ideas on that as well. Opintions? | |

Sorta like this it's on my golf cart I get yea, I made a design for a mower with that suspention, I just didn't do it, to much money involved. the snowmobile suspention will be cheap and I just have to make clearenses and mounts. glad to see you do a suspention like that tho, good for jumping right? lol like a bronco II front axle.

Sorta like this it's on my golf cart That most closely resembles Ford's "TIB" or "Twin I Beam" setup, used on 2wd trucks for quite some time. The 4wd version was called "TTB" or "Twin Traction Beam". They had a real potential to be a pain in the @ss when lifted. That said, a similar long arm crossover suspension could work quite well on a mower. Set up right, it gives you a fair bit of travel without as much camber change throughout the suspension cycle. Please note that in the picture above, the caster angle is downright horrible. Reversed, really. You want your caster angle to be more positive than negative.
