| pretty standard answer - port grinding, polishing, sometimes slightly bigger carb and exhaust helps. hotter spark etc... but that's about it and needs to be well planned out. |

| All the standard hot rodding tricks will work, its just a 4 stroke engine. It just takes tweaking. Some engines gain more from a tweak than others do.
Basically it depends on how much you want to spend.

| Stretch and I are of the opinion that stock motors are plenty powerful for what almost anyone on here will want to do. We are running stock Briggs twins (minus governor) and all of our tractors top out around 45mph.... and they don't struggle to get there. | |

Exactly. When these machines are designed, they are designed not only to self-propel, but to drive implements at the same time. Take away the implement, and you have a lot of reserve power. When you consider how fast a go kart can go with a much smaller engine, it's easy to see what can be done. I used to have a large heavy kart- 450+lbs with me on it. With an 11hp engine, I was hitting 45MPH. No problem. | |
