| Well, I'm planing on trying out the stock rear end. It seems to be a positive traction, as it has a solid axle all the way through the rear end. I have taken off the variable pulley system and changed the front and rear pulleys to 5.5 inch. The mower seems a little too fast. It is a 2 speed though. a low and high and reverse. If I have too I'll change a pulley, after I ride it some. I have in mind replacing the trans after this one fails. | |

| Nice work on the exhaust. I've got the v twin briggs and duals also, sounds pretty good.
Overall looks like a nice build.

| looks like your right side tire is tilted out far, if you take the tire off and heat the bend you can straighten in, then get it red hot and pour oil over it to reharden it | |

| Thanks guys for your compliments. I still need to do some more work. I was just wanting to show ya'll what I have so far.Yea, when I was riding it today I noticed that wheel. It looked like it was wobbling to me, to the point I thought it was gonna come off. I would like to redo the steering and fix that bend or wobble. I may just change the spindles out. I don't know if our skills will let us bend and harden it correctly. There is some slop in the steering also. But, it turns easy.when driving. Thanks for reading my post. | |

the 25" on mine turn real easy to, its a simple fix on that spindle, and almost all mtd's ive seen have that problem, if you have a torch you can fix it quick, it isn't hard, and to be honest, yu shouldn't have to worry about oil, as long as you dont let it cool naturally by air then it will be fine, so heat it, then take a pipe that will fit over it and bend it a lil, pour water on it then put the tire on and check it, repeat if nessecery, i am actually running the spindles off a mtd gt on my lifted craftsman because they were long enough for the rear rims with out extending the spindle, and i extended the arm on the spindle for more leverage which made my steering easier, how fast is she?

| Thanks Richie, I'll give it a try.You asked about the speed. I can't do anything but guess. I'd say tops in high gear mabye 25 or so. Tops in the low gear mabye 5 to 8 with rpms pretty high.Reverse about the same as in high gear. Kinda spooky! Thanks

| It's a 25 hp v twin briggs. I took off the variable , and put a 5" pulley on the front and back. I left the stock transaxle 2 speed reverse. I think it will do until I break it.

, oh so its the mtd's gt rear end with high and low? those are pretty strong, should last awhile, the reason it goes fast in reverse is cause the 2nd gear ratio is almost the same as the reverse ratio, therefore smae speed just abouts

| Yes, Richie that's right. It's the stock Mtd. rear trans that comes with it. I wish the reverse was a little slower . The forward speeds are about right for me as I have the very low gear and a high top speed. Works for me as I do my clutch by hand. I'm gonna have to fix my brakes to work by hand too. I was going to use the long handle that picks up the belly pan as a brake . The foot brake is still there, but if I put a handle on it, it would work backwards. I would push to have brakes. I want to pull for brakes. The nerves in my feet and legs are screwed up from an industrial accident that damaged my spinal cord. Some days I am good as any one. Other days , no feeling. | |

you could put a small arm on top of the deck highth bar, then when you pull it it will engage the brake
