I'm kinda of school, and self taught. Recently work sent me for a MONTH of welding, as in welding all day long, 5 days a week. I didn't do much stick weld before, but now I would say I can! Mig is my favorite still, have an old miller 200 that I got in trade, for fixing a forklift.

Try youtube vidoes, search overhead mig, or stick, or vertical mig. Plenty of good videos to help show you how it is done.

Lay beads, and watch that puddle and use a gas mask if you don't do it outside or in poor ventilation. And when you start a fire, remember you have a gas mask on and not like I did when you start to blow the fire out

Yeah most of the time when i weld i do it outside or with the doors open.
