OK! So update, but not much working. More planning.

Bumpstops i got forever ago off a harley davidson golf cart. Perfect.


Next is coil placement. Bit of thinking, i had to figure out the sag of the springs.


Articulating suspension to see how much the axles moves back and forth. Not much. This is as much flex as i think ill have, 13 1/2".


Measured spring sag and the cardboard resembles height of the coil bucket. This is the coil pretty much falling out of the bucket at full droop then.


Tire still turns 50+ degrees and clears the bumper! Didnt know id stuff these big of tires when i made it, lol.


Next! cut the grill off my hood. I'll be bolting the grill to the frame, and braced it up to act as a roll bar to protect the engine. Not finished, as i need to make mounts for the bolts.




Some holes will be drilled in the hood so pins welded/bolted to the grill can go through like a drag car hood deal. And yea, i cut about 2" off the main original pipes so the hood doesnt have a ganster lean. Pretty much level and the grill isnt kicked out , more of 90 degrees with the hood now, i like the look.

Next! Got different tires off a friend for $10. I was getting swamp foxes but my buddy has been screwing me over for 2 months and stuff. Besides that, these kendas are fat, knobby, and great condition. 22x10-8. Wrong hub size though, I want it to be 4x4 and its  3 1/2" (or metric something) but golf carts have 8" rims with 4x4 hubs. so looks like ill get them and swap the tires over.


Rough mock up. Should sit about there. Not used to the fat look.


Im gunna be cutting some knob rows out so its more of a paddle tire. You'll have to see later i guess. These cake up easy so that should really improve the tire.

nice tires red!!! I feel like I've seen those before somewhere on YouTube? Fearless front? No... Uh who cares anyways... So are you keeping the mesh grill? And just bracing it? Cause I didn't really understand that part...

Just re doing the grill so it acts as a roll bar to protect the engine. mesh will be re added with metal wire or zip ties. not structural.

I really love the 2 stage exhaust. I can appreciate the twin rumble, but a exhaust that blares wicked loud just gets obnoxious. Also I do some night riding and I can't wake the neighbors; Most of where I like to ride is their land.

Yea, at my camp and in town I thought it was pretty loud so that kinda limited how much I drove it. Now I can do what I please-quieter than a push mower

Finished the heavy duty roll bar/grill and mounted the bump stops too.




Switched the tires over to the new golf cart rims but i cant get them to seat.


Got the 820 out to finish sealing it up. Locktied the diff carrier bolts, RTV'd the case with the shift fork in, removed the stock brakes. Its a 820-018.


Yanked that dirty 930 out to rob the pulley off it. Size comparison between the two. 820 is probably 25lbs heavier


Welded the pulley to the top section of a long snow blower pulley i had. has a long 5/8" keyed sleeve with a set screw that gives it about 1" of lift and shouldnt hurt the imput shaft.


I jacked it up into place to see how well the belt lines up. Measure the lift, and then i can hack the murray GT tranny mounts and weld them to the frame.


Even if i have to wait on tubes for my tires i can make the new shifter, belt guards, get a new belt, make my 4x4 hubs, skid plate and belly pan, ect. falls together from here... Someone buy more mower parts from me!

I've had a lot of trouble getting rims to seat but I found a method that always seems to work. If you tighten a rachet strap around the tire and really crank it down. It pushes the bead out, try filling it then. If you can't get em to seat after that I just get a tube.

In the size comparison you've got for the two transaxles, I see a gm water pump. I've had the same damn pump sitting on my floor since I yanked my 1spd out of the mtd hahahahaha all looks well here, almost like you know what you're doing eh? Keep up the good work red

Thats the pump to the BBC me and my dad (mostly my dad) is rebuilding for the speed boat. isnt happening any time soon but sure is something to screw with when nothing to do.

Already tried that a few times. I think the bead's steel cable in the rim is bent and not completely circle so it isnt forming to the bead. Tubes are $34 shipped for both, but ill see what i can do.

I always just soaped them up good, (or a little grease/oil or something) then put some pressure in them and let them sit. Sometimes let the air back out and reposition things a little and do it again. When I was in high school auto shop, some people were trying to get an ATV tire to seat and had like 80lbs in it. Not a good idea, supposedly in some cases the bead can blow past the edge of the rim if it jumps all of a sudden. Not that your doing that, just saying in general, if tires don't seat, no need to get excited about it, they'll go eventually. Tires on my simplicity didn't seat right away either, but after I mounted them, they sat for like 6 monthes. I never did look real close, maybe they still didn't seat...

Nah, i mean that the tire itelf wont get on the rim. Just blows air past and out.

Oh, can't even get it started. NNNNNNNow I get it. Yeah that's a pain too. I don't have any good ideas for that.

Some junk i got done.

Took the 930 apart for  a tutorial video and to get off what was left of the pulley, witch turned into a ***** show. However i grabbed a pic of the broken locker.



Finally got my mig tank refilled. I started on the tranny mounts. Pretty hard because it has to be perfect. Dont want to cut the wrong stuff out. Lots of measuring and suspending a 50lb axle in the air.

Old mounts, pretty much sheet metal. I welded washers as you can see over the cracking hole.


Then i cut the old murray GT 820 mounts up to the length i needed them at.


Cut a level line to get rid of them old junky mounts and welded in the new mounts. Like budda! Looks a lot stronger. It comes out to a blazing 3/4" over stock

What's wrong with the oppy?

Engine pushed out a valve guide on the lower cyl exhaust and burns oil. Needs to be fixed, but lucky for me I've been working on a 46ci 21hp opposed seen here: https://www.atltf.com/t4166-briggs-opposed-build-46ci That I can swap in. Upgrade and fix, hopefully. Just swapping the 16s carb over because it's tuned in stupid good, un gov'd too.

Looks like making a trans skid plate would be pretty easy. Could just bolt it somewhere to the bottom edge of those brackets/weld a tab down there or something. Gonna slope the skid plate up in front of the trans at a 45 to meet up with the belt guard?

yyyyyyyyyep. It's going to be pretty tight to the case, just off the pumpkin for maximum ground clearance. Going to run a bar side to side on the bottom of the forward tranny mounts and run the skid up to the frame. Then the same on the backside probably

Deffinatley gonna have a skidplate on mine to, probably full belly pan like your talking about, are you using steel or aluminum?

Steel. Angled front and back so I can drag it over stuff. I think the 1/8 - 3/16 plate I have is about as wide as the frame. Little ears on the ends and have like 4 bolts holding it on. Probably wing nuts for easy removal on the trail. The 16ga belly pan will go probably up to the engine crank but still figuring out how to mount it. I think I'll use pins with rubber "washers" should keep brush out if the belts when running in the woods.
