I wish that I had a junkyard like you do. is that where you got this?
Nope, i got this for free across the street of my house and it started all this. I really didnt know much about them, i made a few youtube videos and was referred to get a 5 speed peerless when i started rebuilding my mower. then i joined here and picked up a lot of stuff, people here help solve a lot of problems

" /> This was like three months ago, when new York, in the fingerlakes got dumped on. this is when mtd's double clutch sh*ty design got me. I had the rear belt set up so I never had a clutch, and the whole shift on the go rear axle has no speeds at all, just gears for forward neutral and reverse. both belts got burned up when the idler pully decided to eat the rear belt. oh well, I hated it anyways.
I hated the double pulley clutch setup on my MTD too. Ive just put a new tensioner clutch setup on mine and its looking like it will work. I had to realign a few things first though but its not that hard to do.

Yeah, i understand the setup more not but i wouldnt want to own this setup again. id reather get a hydro and swap in a 5 speed, way easier.

Meh, still thinking about adding lights, but im afraid something might clear my bumper and go right into those nice case glass lenses. So i want to make a fancy pants bumper add on, i think this is around the design im thinking of.
Tell me what you think

My weld shop instructor built an offroad trailer, I think he used something like 1/4 or 3/8 roundstock and built a cage around the lights. I suppose expanded metal would work well enough though...

he used a piece of C channel for the bracket, then put the bar stock on that. Left the inside side open to remove the light if needed.
I dunno, seems to me lights might be better up a bit higher? Then again, maybe you dont go plowing through large branches and whatnot in your way lol.
{EDIT} Some of those sticks and stuff come up in some interesting places... painful places too... I have NOT had that misfortune. lol

No not really i dont really expect some stick penetration, i do have some very small round stock, like pencil thin or thinner, i could add as grates infront of the lights, and not really degrade the lighting aspect.
And yes, i hope those sticks never go to those entrusting places... LOL

So after getting it running becuse of a dead battery and some carb issue, i managed to roll it after a few minutes of playtime. Im OK and the tractor has a bent spindle. Good thing i left the flywheel screen on there or else my hand would of been blended.
