Thanks, and yea it does look fairly new, tho its 10years +++

I didnt get to do much today, I cut the rear frame to make the 820 fit snuggly "inside the frame", the black is a template for the actual gearbox mount.

Finally decided on ride height, well gearbox placement.

and ran out of disc space when doing the video update.

And the waterjet got a bad bearing today, so its out of order - just my luck. Might have to rip out the plasma cutter Smile

I'm using everything I can from the stock steel and Craftsman mower. So I modified the dash frame today, made it Jack shaft ready.

Will be a tight fit, I'm taking my time on this a lot to make right, and the setup needs to be perfect.

I like the chain idea its better than a belt.
And it shouldt slip.

That's insane... I LOVE it! What are you planning to do to deal with the sag in the chain? You don't want the chain particularly tight, but the sag could cause you to throw the chain. Maybe some idler wheels for support at the midpoint? Perhaps a spring loaded tensioner to help take up the slop without it actually being too tight?

Yea, will give the chain all the slop it needs with a proper guide/ tensioner. Will build this into the chain guard wich will also house the nut cracker, short shifter.

Yeah now, but nothing is bolted down, it will clear it, but the shifter axle will be cut down as well.

I dont like those Square fasteners anyways, ill just use a setscrew type to lock an axle spacer on it.

You may have already addressed this but, what about your clutch? Given what I see, can I safely assume you intend to use a torque converter and/or centrifugal clutch mechanism? Really curious about this now, as my front engine snapper is getting resurrected and further modified in a similar fashion...

A CVT self clutches. No other mechanism required.

Ya a heavy duty CVT made for big ATVs and heavy golf carts, not to be compared to the 40 models etc.

A centrifugal clutch will never work, never seen one rated for 20hp + and those are really made as a momentary on-off switch, they burn easy. A CVT won't in the same manner. Tho heat is an issue also on a CVT.

And thanks, and you probably know what tensioner im planning to use, like on dirt bikes, they have a chain holder and also keeps the tension.

Make no mistake about the Comet 40. They are very well built, durable, and can tolerate a ton of abuse. I beat the everloving spit out of mine for years with no issues.

Ya ordered one from UK, then went ages waiting for it. Then the seller told me he was out of stock and wanted to sell me a model 40. And never found any nee supplier for the CVTech, so ordered the Comet 780 from MFG instead. But if this works as planned I might, try again on a CVTech unit.
